I share some of your sentiments on much of the beginning of this game. All the frontloading of lore for a world I have no connection to only means I have no where to file the information in my head and there's no reason for me to care about the information, so it's just in one ear and out the other.

It deserves some reasonable criticism as it's treated as some kind of godly work of story telling in the Skyrim mod community. Which I guess compared to other story mods it's pretty good but it got quite a few flaws. My quick discription of enderal is that it's "a ttrpg players second campaign". They have worked out the basic writing kinks but still suffers from the self indulgence a lot of newer world builders get trapped in.

Normally I'd be like oh leave JustbackGroundNoise alone because he's my favorite KZbinr/Streamer but I got to the hour mark and your just complaining about how long the disposition is which I feel like defeats the purpose of playing a mod it's about all the new stuff it adds which you were clearly not interested in. Great vid . I agree the story shoved in your face locking you in without leting you experience it is not great. I hate when games just hit you with a wall of lore at the start of the game- like ease me into it first, don't just hit me over the head with it. Elder Scrolls for example, does this perfectly as the intro is vague about the story to intrigue players into playing the game, with books you can read for optional and deeper lore, Morrowind is a shining example.

I love Enderal to bits I really like Just Background Vods and Noise. But this got uncomfortable and I stopped watching. You're obviously not in the headspace for this game or it ain't your type of game. Maybe take a long break from this and get back when you feel like playing a new game, because this kind of felt like you just wanted to play Skyrim.

It gets better once the game opens up and the characters stop lecturing me about the lore. The mechanics, environments, and sound design are all great. The history lessons, no so much.

Of all people I watch, I was secretly hoping you would be the one to try enderal 😊I know in morrowind/skyrim you really don't tend to care about npcs, it's very transactional, but enderal is very very different it has approval from companions like bg3 and actual have their own life and don't stalk you...(serana...). Really hope you finish the game! I honestly ditched Skyrim to binge this one months ago

Yeah.. this wasnt good. Im 80hours in on my first playthrough and i died less than JBN in his first hour. No hate, but watching this ive started to understand, why TES games got simpler with each release

My primary interest in this mod was the way it changed Skyrim's mechanics, like how the magic works and the class builds. I wasn't expecting to have a bunch of info-dumping thrown at me. I don't think it's unfair to want to play a game and get invested _first_ before being dragged feet-first through the lore of the world. The mod does get better once you get to Ark and the story develops more intrigue.

@@justbackgroundvods for most people lore is how people get invested hard to be invested when you have nothing to be invested in. But I understand you completely. It's just this video felt a little off and as a viewer I can tell you were not enjoying your experience which made watching hard. But I stuck through it you do good commentary.
