Every time I am done with a Skyrim character I have them return to their home to join their family or friends once more, be it in a home they own or their guild or whatever. My last character was a rogue. I made her when I was really depressed so all we would do was just explore, not bothering with quests. When we got to Solstheim though... I don't know if it was the music or the somewhat dead surroundings or maybe a mix but it felt like she, or rather I was home. When I was done with her I left her overlooking the mountains on this one waterfall, my favourite little place to just have the sounds going on as I did other stuff. I don't know why I'm typing this, guess I just want to share that this game has a lot of meaning to me.

Going to Solsteim in Skyrim for the first time was such an experience. The music brings such great nostalgia for me. Dragonborn hit something particular with me that cannot be matched by the rest of the game. Maybe it's all the deep lore and history of the Dunmer, or maybe it's the somewhat alien and somber land, or Miraak's haunting voice when you go to sleep. But even that boat pulling into the docks sent me back. And as always, the soundtrack pulls its weight.

The way this game for the past 10 years has been the best friend I never had. Helping through so many tough times. And now I am playing it once more for the anniversary. And that feeling of comfort and peace never fails. No one will ever understand how video games save lives. So many people hear that and judge so harshly because they dont understand. Yet so many books save lives. I don't see a difference at all. And I hope someday the stigma is lifted.

Jeremy Soule is just an absolute wizard. I still come back to Skyrim pretty regularly, but because I admit I have not played the Dragonborn DLC in a long, LONG time. At least a decade if not more. This is really bringing me back and making me want to travel back there.

i can't explain how much this game means to me. i'm not one of those who plays Skyrim since ever, because i didn't get my first console until 2019 but i've always known it and wanted to play it. My first time with Skyrim was with my ex boyfriend (who played also oblivion, like he was a real veteran). Now he left me a month ago, i've got a big hole inside of me everytime i log in, but Skyrim it's also my land, my home. I feel a huge nostalgia of him, but i can't help, i have to keep playing because it's the only thing in this world that distract me when depression and anxiety hits. I finished Dragonborn in these hard days dealing with my sadness, but this themes are something else and also if i'm crying right now i can't stop listening to it.

I never got completely through Skyrim because I would get distracted by all the side quests and just listening to the ambiance. I’m listening to this now while there’s a rainstorm outside with my doggo. He was in a panic for a while because of the thunder, but he fell asleep with this in the background!

Before I resumed my studies, I had decided to switch from LOTR ambience to the majestic and nostalgic tunes of Skyrim as a way to reminisce the many adventures I had underwent with vaious companions. This time being soundtracks specifically played within the land of Solsheim (a DLC exclusive expansion, allowing exploration to the border of Morrowind). Anyways, while sitting here attempting to study for math well past midnight, I could not help but to be reminded of the time I temporarily lost a great warrior and follower, Teldryn Sero; a dark elf Solsheim native. Teldryn Sero and I have ventured through countless quests together until one night I had decided to part ways. With time, regret came to me and I did everything I could to try and find him (ps3, so no console cheats or mods). I looked everywhere in Solsheim but to no avail. Prior to this, we had mutually disbanded at my lakeview manor household, which is located far south, in around the depths of the untravellable snow prominence. I then assumed he began to travel, on foot, to Solsheim. It had been over a week in-game, so I just started to hastily venture on the path heading to the Windhelm docking ships, which take you to the much dryer and lifeless region of Morrowind. Towards seemingly the end of my already grueling journey, my company was met with the ruthless combination of a harsh blizzard and a relentless duo of bloodthirsty Werewolf Vargrs. Being extremely demoralized and exhausted, I had almost lost all sense of hope when suddenly, the snow storm begins to clear revealing a distinguishable man walking close ahead with a torch, as well as my prized dawnbreaker sword still equipped to his hip. Without hesitation, I welcomed him back to my party with rejoice and following a brief moment of equipment lending, we all headed off to attempt to slay Karstaag (which we never managed to accomplish).

@Everness17 жыл бұрын
Thank you! "I thought you were done with Skyrim videos" - Yeah, I thought so too. I'm still going to make a couple of ambient videos for Skyrim (forests, water, and snow or mountains), but I wasn't planning on Solstheim ambience. However, there are some interesting bits here and there, like silt striders' howls for instance. We'll see. It's probably going to be a lazy one with the same footage as this one. With completely new and richer soundscape though, of course.
@mirinae95367 жыл бұрын
Using the same footage sounds fine with me. Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. It's good to hear that you have more upcoming Skyrim videos.
