I love Skyrise! That second era is tense! The decisions that you have to make in the second era based on what spaces are still available can be quite difficult - especially when you are left with options that will only benefit other players.

We really loved this! Particularly the production of it all. My only nitpick is that, based on the orientation of the island tiles, it can be a bit confusing or hard to spot where the bridges create adjacencies. The math/balance behind the buildings is really fascinating as well. I think it was initially inspired or based on Go First Dice. But ensuring all 4 sets were balanced against each and every player count was likely a fun challenge!

That's a great point about the precision with which they picked the numbers!

Yeah I was realllly impressed with Skyrise. 1st, I agree that the wooden edition is also marvelous and feels very deluxe. This was my favorite kickstarter delivery in quite a while. At least until Honey Buzz: Fall Flavors delivers in the next month or so.

2:59 Yes, I am quite uncomfortable with most implementations of the auction mechanic but the number play here interested me when I first came across this project. I feel quite comfortable framing an auction in terms of psychological gambling regarding the directions other players will go based on the open information available about them rather than involving odds in my thinking even if odds are at work. The information, cards aside, creates a far more conceivable puzzle for me than say Isle of Skye where I can never get hold of the tiles I actual need even while in both games I am required to guess what other players are about to do. I haven't proved this yet though as I have been a bit sick and not played my copy of Skyrise with anyone yet. Cheers.

At first it sounded very much like Metropolys.

I think Skyrsie is heavily inspired by Metropolys--it's mentioned in Skyrise's BGG description.

I think it very much is a reimplentation of Metropolys

It is a re implementation of metropolys involving the original author... So pretty normal that it feels the same😂
