13289 Test runs, 45 Test centuries, 292 Test Wickets, 200 catches, played against some of the best Test bowlers of all time. Batting average greater than Sachin's, bowling average as good as one time Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan and almost as many catches as Rahul Dravid the Test fielder. This in itself elevates Jacques Kallis to the position of the greatest cricketer to ever have played the game. When you also consider his ODI record (11579 runs, 44 batting average, 272 wickets, 130 catches), the only question which remains is how a human being achieved all this. If and not when (because it won't happen) Ben Stokes gets even remotely close to these figures, then compare him to Kallis, but not now. No way. It is offensive to consider Stokes anywhere close to Kallis right now.

@adg45984 жыл бұрын
@G H so. You don't make a team based on historic events only. One person cannot take someone to finals. Just because stokes won wc final u take him in ur team? Things could have gone wrong so easily. Kallis team never performed well enough to reach finals. You cannot put that against him. That is why teams are selected based on consistent performances and not miracles where luck was involved no matter how brilliant the innings was. You are making an emotional selection, like choosing a dream11 team. Your reaction 'world Cup finaaaalllllllllll' says it all. You are putting too much emphasis on the occasion. No selector worth his grain of salt will do that especially based on just one final. It's very unlikely u will choose the same team 10 yrs down the line. Yes. That's why we 90s fans rate Indian performance in 2003 world cup so highly. That Aussie side was unbeatable. The batting line up never ended - it was like taking on a team where everyone was in beast mode. If they batted first, they would score 300+ (which was huge back then), and if they batted second they would rarely chase over 200. And that's because if McGrath was playing, good chance he would wrap your top order up in a big game. Oh then you had Warne, who was basically unplayable everywhere outside the subcontinent. Supported by Gillespie and Lee and Fleming - all deadly bowlers on their day. The bench were blokes like Brad Hogg, Nathan Bracken, Bichel. And at any time, 3 in the top order could bowl some useful overs. And their fielding was only second to South Africa, and far ahead of everyone else (other than NZ).

Just imagine if he from same era as Richards, Greenidge ,Haynes , Lloyd, kallicharan, Kanhai Holding,Garner Roberts,Daniel , Gavaskar ,Lillee and Thompson ,Hadlee ,Imran ,Kapil Dev,Rice,Proctor etc . The Greatest complete player ever !!!

First man picked always Warne. Incredible match winning weapon to have as the pitch ages. Before he gets his wickets he gives you quality in the slips and a cricket brain second to none. Most bowlers need to be hidden in the field. Greatest bowler i've seen. Next two picked always Gilchrist and Kallis for me. Both supply choice of playing an extra bat or bowler. Enormous advantages again without compromise on quality. The Lara Tendulkar Ponting trio is just a superb and classy combo to pick at 3to5. Flair and Class. Happy to alternate Sehwag with Hayden/Smith. Personally would luv to see Hayden batting alongside Sehwag but not fussed. Akram McGrath Marshall as the seamers.

Didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did! I love this team think Graeme Smith and Hayden were phenomenal players, Ponting was my hero playing cricket as a child guy had the timing of God when he was on form, Sashin who can deny the mans greatness, Lara a bit before my time but watching clips he seems like a batsman from today with his strike play and when someone like Shane Warne says he is the best batsman he's ever bowled to well that says it all, Kallis arguably the greatest cricketer to ever play the game, Gilly what a phenomenal keeper and batsman (I like Mark Boucher as a wicket keeper but Gilly brings a bit more to the table), Shane Warne as I used to bowl leg break the admiration I have for this mans bowling can not be put into words, Wasim Akrim so unique and phenomenal undeniable, Dale Steyn is my personal favourite (and in my book the best fast bowler I have ever seen bowl) there are a few spells that come to mind Steyn vs Collingwood in England probably beat the outside edge for 5 overs straight in England and Steyn vs Haddin in South Africa sets him up with outswingers only to bowl middle stump out of the ground with an inswinger 4 balls later and all this at close to a 150kmh, he's bowled faster than 150kmh but mostly they were up in high to mid 140's, Glenn McGrath is text book was always putting on the pressure and could bowl on a coin for overs on end. Now its 2023 and would I swap these guys out for the best players of today, I would say no. I will say though my team is based of test cricket not limited overs. I would also say I can see someone putting in Steve Smith, Ab de Villiers, Virat Kholi or Ben Stokes, Steve Smith is a batting machine but I don't know whether I would put him above any of the batsmen on the list, AB and Virat I feel are in such a league of their own when it comes to striking the ball, it is such a sight to see but again Ponting and Lara... Stokes, I'll say this its day 5 and my back is against the wall, I want Stokes to come in and bowl or bat, the guy never gives up and tbh he seems like he plays better the more pressure he has on him but again if you're only choosing on all-rounder very tough to leave out someone of Kallis's caliber. I guess one thing to also consider is Sashin had Dravid, Smith had Kallis and Amla, Steyn had Morkel, Ntini, Philander, Shane had McGrath and Lee, Ponting had hayden, Hayden had Langer, also Hussey, Clarke, and Gilly... You know all of these players are phenomenal cricket players but it is a team sport and it's always easier to get wickets when your bowling partner is putting on the pressure and way easier to come in and bat when you have great players infront and behind you. Probably a golden age of cricket the turn of the millennium.

Ben Stokes guided England to 2 limited overs World Cup Titles : ODI World Cup 2019. T20 World Cup 2022. No doubt Kallis was a great all-rounder, probably the best there ever was , but how many World Cups did Kallis win for his team?

1. Hashim Amla 2. Saeed Anwar 3. Rahul Dravid 4. Kumar sangakkara 5. Andy Flower (C &WK) 6. Jacques Kallis 7. Andrew Flintoff 8. Muralidharan 9. Shane Warne 10. Courtney Walsh 11. Curtly Ambrose
For me, SACHIN VS LARA VS SMITH is such a juicy, debatable, very very tough call at no 4. Someone like Ponting and Kallis due to batting positions can slot in at 3 and 6 and Lara perhaps at 5. But boy, you simply can't leVe out either Sachin or Smith. For me Kohli is no comparison to Sachin in tests. And in ODI's Sachin is opener and Virat definitely at 3.

Leave out Ponting maybe. Lara at 3 and Sachin and Smith at 4 and 5 or 5 and 4 respectively. That's the only thing you can do if u don't wanna leave out Sachin and Smith

King Wiwuz IV There is no doubt that Sangakkara was a great player but if you analyse Sanga’s career stats carefully then you will find that his purple patch started in the latter half of the 2000s by which time all the great bowlers of the 90s had retired. Sanga never faced Ambrose or Walsh or Donald or Wasim or Waqar. He didn’t have much success against McGrath either. Sanga has 11 double hundreds but 10 of those have come on sub-continent pitches (if you know what I mean). He was a great batsman no doubt, but I will not put him in the same category as Lara or Tendulkar or Ponting. Tendulkar was technically the most correct batsman in all conditions whether against seam or swing or spin or pace & bounce. But the most entertaining to watch was Brian Charles Lara. When Lara was in the mood, he was simply unstoppable.

1. Haydos 2. Viru 3. Rahul 4. Jack 5. Brian 6. Punter - Would attack from ball one. He used to play there when he was very young. 7. Gilly Let Steve finish his career. He's not in my 30 years team yet but yes he can get there. Virat should not even be in the conversation in test xi like this. Sachin is not even in top 5 test batsmen of his generation imo. He's better than Ricky but at 6 I'd rather have the latter.
Iam very sad they completely forgot Waqar Younis, nd Sir Curtly Ambrose both one of d best of all time

@@skd2697 they both can easily make all time XI, especially Waqar

@@jatinupadhyay6401 They can based on the opinions of different people. Some people will choose Mcgrath and Ambrose as their Top 2 fast bowlers, some might choose Wasim & Waqar, some will choose Holding and Walsh, some will choose Donald and Garner. Hence you don't need to be sad. Different people will have different opinions.
