Hi Kris, I have done something like this using PX4 firmware (e-Flight Convergence). PX4 firmware has thrust differential gain. It detects yaw rate , then adjust front motors to keep the aircraft going straight? I want to use Ardupilot as i am familiar with mission planner camera control. Not success yet. Problem with uneven thrust from motor and asymmetric structure when me built it. Standard APM3.8.x has no thrust differential. I found it was very difficult to fly without it. Curious, if your firmware version has thrust differential in FWBA and auto mode?

Dear Kris! I do not quite understand how the switching between the motor modes occurs - low position = single engine thrust on the rear side, neutral = front side with two thrusts of the engine, high position = front and rear three thrusts of the engine. Where can I download a tutorial? I wish you every success!

That holds good in the wind! The Firefly 6 Pro will not do that because of the crummy AVA software. And your transitions are way way better.

Well done. The transition settings must have been tricky. Flies great and stable hovering in a strong wind. Great job. Did you a specific purpose in mind for this type of aircraft?

X8 is not as popular here. Hi, The Skywalker X8 VTOL Y3 setup is more complex, the firmware can be downloaded for free, but it is not open source. May I suggest to starts with a simple Y3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6O0f4qHp6pjbNk This is the quadplane of the ArduPilot. The official wiki is open source.

I made a tilt rotor vtol, when I moved around the rides I didn't go straight, but did yaw so that the Mahana instead spun. What do you think the problem is?

Yes, but I didn't add the code to Folding propeller in this version. 50Hz or 490Hz depends on Servo?_Function. For example, 33 (ESC) is 490Hz

That would be a loooong answer lol You can find prebuilt VTOL servos at foxtech and a quick search will find you the UAVS branded ones as well. For the Pixhawk VTOL setup there are lots of videos on youtube about it

This is not the official firmware of Ardupilot! Therefore, the Servo Function has the rear tilt function and supports almost all the VTOLs. photos.app.goo.gl/AQ3tTAzKifCa29fe8

Hey, I have a question. Are you using the rear motor for yaw control? If yes, then during forward transition when the rear motor is tilted how can you control the yaw?

No, The yaw control is from the front motors' vector thrust, it has nothing to do with the rear motor.

It is a ardupilot customized firmware, it’s free but not open source. Currently, theres only tutorials in Chinese, the English version is not yet translated.

I thought ardupilot firmware supported this yaw axis controller by 2 front motors vector thrust. The Tilt-Type choose Vectored, tilt-rotors have vectored control of yaw, where they can control yaw by tilting the left rotors independently of the right rotors.

How do you pick the right motors for such tiltrotors because these motors need to be effective for both lifting the plane vertically, as well as forward propulsion. I am designing a VTOL tiltrotor plane with AUW of about 6.5 kg, any advice on how I could pick suitable motors?

Nice quadplane tiltrotor you've got on there. I am designing a VTOL plane for maritime surveillance, would you recommend a tricopter tiltrotor plane or a quadplane with tilt rotors? In other words, would you recommend a VTOL plane design with three tilt rotors or four tilt rotors. I am looking for the best balance of endurance, performance and reliability (at least from your experience)? Much appreciate your opinion.

Maritime surveillance? I would use HeliPlane for offshore applications. It’s capable of landing on the swaying ship in strong wind For wide area surveillance, a hybrid of gas and battery engine is often used. It is a helicopter-based aircraft, not a quadplane. 這架X8是用來驗證(Y3三矢量機型)用的,沒賣哦! 但套件可以買到,就是要自己動手DIY就是. 不過我這個固件不開源,但可免費下載,一般Pixhawk可以刷,如果是工控(例如傳感器改ADIS16xxx那類)則要談喔!

Hi, The conversion kit is better to be produced by the manufacturers, but here are few things to be first. 1. This airframe is not supported by Ardupilot or PX4 official Firmware. You will have to use my firmware or develop one on your own. 2. My firmware can be downloaded for free, but it's not open source. 3. The current tutorial is in Chinese and is being translated into English, but the workload is huge (because there is a difference of over 2 years of trial and errors from the original official version).

The conversion kit must be designed to simplify the assembly process and properly strengthen the fuselage structure. I asked the company to design it and do a complete test in the past few days, and then put the conversion kit on the market. It will be divided into conversion kit/PNP/RTF in the same way as Nimbus1800 Y3. You choose which one you want. If you have a certain degree of understanding of Ardupilot, you can buy a conversion kit.
