Thanks for all the comments over the years everyone. I haven't done as much AP since my final school years and finishing school unfortunately, but I do it still from time to time with better camera equipment. Hopefully, once COVID settles down I can finally get back into this properly. I am going to be upgrading to a nice EQ mount, and with the help of my current camera, Canon 5D (Work Camera) I should be able to get some great photos in the future! Im overwhelmed with the comments and views, and I am trying to catch up on them. Looking back my photos do look quite newbie, however I was only 16/17 at the time. Wishing everyone the best, and good health!

Hey mate I'm about to buy this very telescope - an expert told me that if I were to get a 2X barlowit would greatly improve the view. did you ever use one? cheers :)
@TheAstroChannel998 жыл бұрын
+Jay bird With this telescope, if you have it collimated very well and have very good seeing conditions you shouldn't need a Barlow. By using a higher magnification, you decrease the field of view which decreases the amount of light you are able to see which can affect the quality of things you see. Unless you are looking at very bright objects, a Barlow isn't always necessary. They're great for planets, like Jupiter if you want to get a better look at the cloud belts which I have done. But when it comes to deep sky you want to allow as much light as possible to come through. Barlow = Great for planets and Moon features. Hope this helps! :)

Hi, did you use the eyepieces which were included in the packaging or did you buy new ones? Your pictures are unbelievable beautiful and very clear. Yesterday I observed the stars the first time with the same telescop, but to be honest i was a little bit disappointed, because the quality of the stars were just as good as with my binoculars. Maybe the eyepieces have not a good quality? I mean the area surround me was very dark and I put my telescop one hour before observation out. Maybe you know the reason why i can not see the objectes like you. Btw I am a newbie :). Best regards
@wakingforbacon64393 жыл бұрын
Because his is through a camera and longer exposure times brings out the details and light. With just a quick view can't really get the shuttle details. For planets a low mm eye piece like a 8 or 6 mm maybe a 10 with a 2x Barlow. And for nebulas usually a long focal length eyepiece like a 17-25. The camera really brings out the details though. Have to have an eq mount to really get the same detail.

I used the ALT-AZ mount for everything bright enough for my 130mm to pick up and my camera at the time to image. I was quite limited. I've recently tried out things like M8, M20 and M16. I get good frames on my Canon, I just can't hold the exposure open long enough without the frame rotating too much. And the weight of the new camera is much heavier than my old small Sony A57, which the mount does not like. You can use any camera, provided your mount can hold it. :)

probably gonna sound like a big noob here but how come the deep sky objects are much better quality than the closer planets?
@TheAstroChannel9910 жыл бұрын
Hey Steffan! Great question! This is because when i image deep sky objects, i take long exposures. This will take in a lot more detail and light and produce a great image if processed correctly. However, for the planets, since they are smaller in comparison to DSO's, and their light is basically concentrated into one area, they are not great for long exposures unless you have a great imaging set up(Planetary camera, great tracking mount). I haven't tried stacking planet images before so i cant say for certain whether it is good or not. Hope that helps! -TAC

Hey Flokos! Great question! My telescope being of 5 inch aperture reveals only very bright deep sky objects to the naked eye. The 6 inch (depending of make and mirror quality) will reveal a bit more detail in deep sky objects. Colours wont be as prominent as they are in photos but you will still be able to pick out dust lanes, fainter clusters and some faint colours. :)

MrFlokos If you live in an area/city with a lot of street lights or other lighting (Airports,highways,etc.) it is definitely worth travelling. I am lucky because i live 20 minutes away from my city by vehicle. However my views north are sometimes overwhelmed by the big international airport which is 5 minutes away. If you can move to an area where you can see faint patches of nebulosity with your naked eye such as the Andromeda galaxy or faint star clusters then you are in a great area.

I had a very rough collection of frames, and was new to stacking with lights and darks. I think the lack of the EQ mounting hindered my ability to have consistent frames of good image data. And my Camera Sensor at the time wasn't great for AP with lots of noises prominent in dark photos for AP and in general lifestyle pictures. I also didn't really know how to process properly, especially since my camera didnt shoot in RAW. Times have changed, and since my line of work involves Photography, I've learned a lot over the years, and photos I get now are much much better. :) Hopefully I can come back and post a then and now video sometime in the next year or so!

@@parreraz Well my current scope is an 8" with a focal length of 900mm. The higher the FL, the more magnification and the more accurate your guiding needs to be. It is much better to look at with the eye compared to my equipment at the time of this video. :)

The planets look too far away. My 90mm refractor, does better.

My recent photos are much better than what they were when I started out. They are quite small in this video since I was new and unexperienced in Planetary imaging. My new Camera and experience definitely help now with more crisp and slightly larger images. :)

+KrystoF Astromateur Arrogant Idiot! Not everyone can afford big telescopes. There are even more reasons than just money, why someone uses a 130 mm telescope. A lot of professional astronomers still use 130 mm and you can have pretty decent views with it.

dude and 130 Apo Ed triplet refractors? 130 mm maks? They are very good telescopes. Also a 130mm refl. is a good telescope for dss imaging.
