There were rumors that he got into a physical altercation with one of his teammates and he was promised a starting role on the team. Like many others I hope it's not a personal family matter as from a public relations standpoint it's easier to just list that as a reasoning for leaving the program than issues with teammates and the coaching staff. I believe his father who is very much involved in his basketball career advised him to leave. He really wanted to be a one and done and like many D1 players he wants to go pro. More than likely he will transfer to a program that will allow him to start in the 2023-2024 season. Only time will tell. I do wish him the best though and hope everything works out for him. But I do understand folks concerns as he did play for quite a few teams in high school and him decommitting from Kentucky. I always assumed it was because he realized he wouldn't be starting. After his injury and players returning as well as new recruits it was possible he would have been riding the bench. I had a feeling something was up when his younger brother ZZ decommitted from Illinois. Maybe he knew around that time Illinois wasn't a good fit for him.

He and his Dad called Tim Anderson like an Uncle to Skyy. I feel like he would be happy to be coached by his Uncle. If it actually is about basketball, then there is no better story and experience than coming back, trying to fit in on the team, find his role and execute at a high level every game and improve from year to year. Clearly he is not good enough to be a professional yet. So he has to accept that he needs to develop over the next few years.

Well said. I wish I knew exactly what is happening in this situation. I hope it’s not a family crisis situation. I just want what’s best for him and his family

I guess he has to find the best place to develop.

This situation reminds me of Mark Smith, but I actually feel bad for Clark and I hope that he find his own way.🙏🏾

I'm hearing it may be a family health situation. So hopefully he will return. Although the Illini just brought in another point guard. Good luck to Skyy if he comes back or moves on.

I love it!!! Everyone needs to remember these are 18 year old, immature kids, the staff is trying to coach. Thank god I'm not doing it!! The 'refrigerator rule' is priceless! Great commentary ... Now, with the recent signing of the PG Moretti, I'm sure Clark is long gone ...

Young mister Bardo I agree with what you have said 100 percent. I remember when you were a young man playing for Illinois It is kinda sad the way players run away from the team they started with. The older coaches know a little somthing but, young players that think they are better or want more then what they are getting Leave. I kinda think you would have become a coach ,maybe Illini. but I guess you were to tall, and happy with what you were doing,LOL. nice though. Hope the young man does ok.

* If this is true, he won't be the first kid ruined by a family member that wants to live vicariously through the kid. I feel sorry for anyone that's being manipulated. Doesn't matter how nice the manipulation comes across. Regrets will come later.

I hope he comes back and has a great career at Illinois. He seems like such a good kid but I don’t know much else about him . He missed a lot of basketball in his high school career so he might be having trouble with playing against 24 year old dudes .

He needs to develop…no nba teams want a man who transfers every single year they play basketball.
@richardwhatley6505 Жыл бұрын
If he plays well, they will. Pretty sure there are NBA players that went to multiple schools. Especially today. A lot of kids start off in public schools then get invited to private schools. If you factor in moving that's 3 schools right there.Before I got situated my oldest kids went to multiple schools, my younger kids went to one middle school and one high school. They came out the same way, went to college and graduated. Only 2 kids out of eight didn't graduate, because the youngest quit college and joined the army. The oldest quit college and got a job. If moving a lot makes you a bad person then I should be on death row. I went to one high school, but before that I went to 8 schools. Not saying it's good to move, that's why when I finally got a house I never wanted to move, so my kids wouldn't have to move a lot like me. Sometimes you have to move, because of circumstances.

Good he’s gone overrated player best thing that could have happen to this team by the looks of it. He won’t be back I guarantee it his dad didn’t like how it was going and he pulled him, the younger brother already pulled out of Illinois. I think they need to let Harris and epps develop at guard why do they keep recruiting the same position so much. Look and Brandin from Wisconsin now he’s killing it for Santa Clara and he prolly left Illinois cause they recruited 3 guards it’s like they take 3 to find 1 starter or something but times have changed with the portal it’s gonna be up side down forever now. ILL -INI and people wonder why Illini fans loved Trent Frazier so much loyalty and not giving up when it’s hard that deserves respect

Love you Bardo but I think you are doing a lot of assuming that is not likely correct. This is about a personal family situation. I think he is doing what he feels is best for his family and we should respect that unless he hear otherwise.

Do you have proof otherwise? How many high schools did he attend.
