Infinite mana and draw your whole deck with your commander, mana vault, training grounds and orrery? Nah that’s too blue of you. Also you could’ve gotten cyclonic rift instead of drain (assuming you run it) and that would’ve been a way safer play against hordes of humans and dragons. Still thanks for showing off urza at home!

for those of you who care, Carlos and Peanut are correct when they say that creatures with "when this creatuer attacks" abilities do not trigger when they are put into play already attacking. abilities with that wording only trigger upon being declared as an attacker at the start of combat, so creatures put into play already in the state of attacking never got declared as an attacker and do not trigger "when this creature attacks" abilities. This comes up a lot in winota, but also other commanders that put creatures into play already attacking, such as kaalia the vast. This does not make cards that interact this way "bad" per-say, but they do need to wait a turn after they winota puts them into play before their abilities take effect.

yea i noticed a lot of the humans booty chose for the deck were a bit strange or low powered and i assume it was because of this misunderstanding in deck building. needed more anthems/stax effects

On Wubby's turn that starts at 23:37, he could have made infinite mana and drawn his whole deck. Because of Chromatic Orrery, he could use colorless mana to activate Drafna and training grounds reduced the activation cost by 1 making it a single blue. Mana vault costs 1 but produces 3. One mana to bounce Mana Vault, 1 mana to cast it, add 3 mana, loop for infinite mana. Once he has infinite mana, he can bounce chromatic orrery to his hand, recast it, then use its ability to draw a card, bounce it and do it again. I would hope he could win with his whole deck in his hand with infinite mana.

@@Jagsacdc He also cast brainstorm on his main phase at the beginning of the game while having no open mana. Also a fairly noobie play. At the very least, keeping up the mana gives your opponents pause.

On Booty’s turn at 31:12 he should have only drawn two cards at his draw step since Carlos swung with the creature copies of Howling mine. Fun interaction with the effect that allows him to get the four cards at draw step, while everyone else gets 2 if he can keep them alive after attacking.

you draw 7 cards and if your hand is bad you can shuffle it away and get a new one. each turn you can play a land, lands turn sideways(tap) pay for spells, most games are won by creature spells, they turn sideways(tapped) from attacking, creatures attack a player directly, that player can choose to block with their own creatures, tapped creatures can't block, all your tapped things untap at the start of your turn and draw a card that's a basic run down, then there are spells that effect the game and cards that stay on the field and effect the game

I should say the game gets more intense as time goes on because more lands means you can cast better or more spells. and you start at 40 life

I’m positive he’s holding back, which is all fair and good. Probably because free interaction from the other blue player with 5 mana up.

Since the Howling Mine copies were tapped from when Carlos attacked Booty shouldn't have drawn off them. It's one of those old cards that turn off when they're tapped (for Voltaic Key shenanigans and such).

As a fellow Winota player, just a couple of things for future games: 1. You have to declare your attacks before the triggers resolve from Winota, but then the creatures coming in off her triggers can then attack anybody at the table. 2. Lena creates a token for each nontoken creature you control, including herself, so Booty should have made 3 when she entered, not 1. Overall, a fun game to watch too, and RIP the inifnite combo Wubbs, but next time!

love to be nitpicky so the cast of resculpt at 28:45 can't be done in response to Miirym entering the battlefield since their is no ETB trigger to respond to. Doesn't matter in this case but if, for instance, someone casts a creature with landfall you would not get a chance to interact in-between the spell resolving and the player playing a land or casting a spell (unless that creature has an ETB trigger) so countering would be the best way to prevent the creature from having any impact.

They were playing howling mine wrong, which is a pretty easy mistake to make. Specifically, the dragon token copies from Astral dragon. Howling mine only works when it's untapped, so when Carlos attacks with the dragon tokens nobody should have been drawing the 2 extra cards on their turn.

Unfortunately not. He didn't exile an Island under Extraplanar Lens he exiled Snow Covered Islands, meaning the only other lands in the game that would get the effect must also be Snow Covered Islands. I assume its why hes running them over regular islands.

You can't just respond to something entering the battlefield unless there is a trigger. Luckily their was with temur ascendancy but that's not what he was responding to when removing Miirym. If a permanent resolves and there are no ETB effects that player still has priority until another action is taken. Again, nothing was effected I just believe they did that in a previous episode as well and this one caught my attention.

Did Wubby really miss a win at 25:50 or am I missing something? He had access to infinite mana and storm from bouncing + recasting Mana Vault via Drafna's ability (discounted by Training Grounds) and could have used Spellseeker to find Fabricate which in turn finds Aetherflux Reservoir and he wins from there.

The tutor isn't even required. Once infinite mana is represented he can draw his whole deck by activating, bouncing, and re-casting the Orrery. He had infinite mana and draw at that point if he had seen/acted on it.

I think you had infinite mana with drafna, mana vault, training ground and chromatic orray. You didn't have to tap your commander to return the mana vault to your hand, only to make copies

He needs them for his commander's ability; when non-humans attack, he gets to look at top 6 cards and if there's a human there, he can put in into play for free. If he blocked with his non-humans, they would die and he couldn't do cool stuff!

The creatures that Carlos are attacking with have an ability called trample which means any damage the attacking creatures would deal that go over the defending creatures toughness will deal damage to the person who was attacked.
