I think a couple cool things that the Ark Developers could work on would be automated oil refineries that collect oil from the underwater flows so that you don't have to constantly go on diving trips to collect oil to process into gasoline. Perhaps also they could even make a 'gas tank' that you can run piping from to power all of the industrial items (alongside the generators), so rather than running around worrying about whether or not you have enough gasoline and where it all is, you can just keep it all in one convenient place that feeds to all your appliances. Lastly, while I think it might be a bit superfluous, you could connect the refinery to the tank so that you could never have to deal with oil collection ever again.

Looking at the pteraswarm gave me a thought of how the devs could improve the follow system for dinos. Have the dinosaur follow a spot just behind and slightly above the target and come at it from above and behind/sideways. The point wouldn't always be directly behind the player, it would flex slightly as you turn corners. Also, each time you tell another dino to follow the follow point moves back a little farther. That way, they wouldn't get all stuck and things.
