Another brand new airline for the channel with CityJet! In addition to that, this is also a brand new aircraft type for the channel as it's the first time I've ever featured the rare Bombardier CRJ-1000! Enjoy!

Love the engine sounds of the CF34 on both the CRJ and E-Jets. Certainly can hear it much more at the back of the CRJ for sure.

How you like the CRJ-1000? Seems like it’d be a huge upgrade from the -100/-200. I’ve been seeing business class and IFE screens in CRJ-900’s and full meal service offered for business class passengers (Air Canada) so airlines can do some real cool things with the newer CRJ’s.

Oh it's fine. I'm not the biggest fan of CRJ's. The 700/900/1000 are certainly better than the 100/200. But as a passenger, I'd much rather fly on an ERJ-175 over any CRJ. That said, as an aviation enthusiast, I'm certainly glad I got the chance to fly the 1000. Truth be told, I'd kind of forgotten they even existed when I booked this whole trip to Europe. I was in Madrid the day before this flight and saw one of Air Nostrum's 1000's, and thought... "Darn it, I should've booked a flight on one of those!" Well, the next day I had this flight, but it was supposed to be on a 900. Looked at the last second and CityJet swapped the 900 for this 1000 and then I thought... "Man, sometimes I do have some good luck..." 😂 It just kind of worked out that I was able to feature this one.

I just finished watching the sci-fi movie Flight Word War II where a present day jetliner gets sent back to France in 1940 during a storm andthe pilots find themselves in the middle of a decisive battle during WWII. Now THERE'S a movie you should watch. And now, I'm watching your flight video. Back in 1997, I flew from CPH down to ATH, had good views of Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. The sun was so much brighter in Athens thna in CPH. We went from 56 degrees N down to about 38 degrees. And.... we lost an hour going down to Athens. I lost 9 hours in 9 hours going from SEA to CPH and then, lost the additional hour on top of that. But I was able to spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the old section of Athens and went to bed at normal time. By doing it this way, my body was adjusting to the local time zone and certainly was by the next morning. Anyhow, another fine video on your part. It's looking more and more like we're shifting over into a La Nina, which could mean more turbulence for you this summer, so be prepared. They're also expecting a very active hurricane season this year. The water in the Atlantic is already where it would normally be in August. For us here in WA State, a La NIna could mean a cooler than normal summer and also fall and winter, depending on how long this La Nina lasts. We're going to have the lowest tide of 2024 on June 6th at 11:15 AM, a -3.3. BE THERE!!

Yeah, they didn't sell very well and really only ever had much use in Europe, so it's not a plane you hear about often. The US regional airline scope clauses prevent them from flying aircraft this large, so they've never been used in the US.

Thanks my friend. Yeah, sadly the US regional airline scope clauses mean this aircraft is too large for them to operate. And as far as I know, Europe is really the only place you can reliably find any in regular service. Truth be told I didn't plan to feature the 1000 on this trip. When I booked this whole trip, I kind of forgot they existed 😂. This was supposed to be a 900, but was swapped for a 1000 at the last minute. For once, an aircraft swap actually worked in my favor haha.

Thank you, I always find this model very interesting. I assume it didn't find success in the US because of the restrictions about weight and capacity with regional jets.
@sla31
@sla31 2 ай бұрын
Effectively yes. The US regional airline scope clauses that limit the number of seats they're allowed to operate mean this aircraft is too large for most of them. So just like the new ERJ-E2 series, no US regional airlines were ever interested in it.

Any differences between a 1000 and a 900 that you noticed, other than the capacity? Been on a few 900's but never a 1000 so my interest is piqued. Great video again!

Great fly! Have you heard the Greenfield, Iowa got hit by a powerful tornado yesterday, the same one that got hit by the wind turbines, leading them to snap in half and burst into fire? 5 people died, including the storm chaser that was ejected form the vehicle.

Neither CPH or AMS is considerate enough to use a jetway--wondering if a handicapped passenger needing a wheelchair, how would that be handled? To manhandle a occupied wheelchair down those steep steps would be a challenge! Did you overnight at AMS?
@sla31
@sla31 2 ай бұрын
In cases like this where the jet bridge isn't used, airlines/airports have equipment that will pull up to the other main cabin door on the FO's side. It then lines up with the floor, the wheelchair passenger is pushed onto it, and it's then lowered down to ground level. They then take the regular elevator up to the terminal. The ones I've used before were made by a company called Lift-A-Loft. Don't worry, no one is having to try to carry passengers down those stairs in their wheelchairs. If there's enough space on the ramp, they'll often just use a big ramp on the main door for everyone. Then everyone just walks off and the wheelchair passengers can then simply ride down the ramp.
@sla31
@sla31 2 ай бұрын
And I used AMS on trip as my "base of operation" so every day I'd fly back to AMS and I stayed at the same hotel all week instead of trying to fly around to different hotels every day.
