This is the best saw on the market! PERIOD! As a lapidary artist, I can’t express how important this new tool is! My production has increased dramatically. This saw is literally cutting perfect gemstone slices while I am silversmithing, or cutting gemstone cabochons. This new “employee” works all day and night with no complaints, coffee breaks, and doesn’t even ask for a paycheck! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

A couple questions. How long does the strings usually last and how large a rock can be cut?

Cool machine! Please make a video showing how long it takes to cut a fist size agate.

Thank you! A fist sized Agate will take about 30 hours, and require numerous blade changes. Tourmaline and Corundums cut faster than quartz on this machine. This saw is really designed for gem grade materials where saving a lot of material is most important.

Great product! I was just brainstorming how to custom make a small gang saw and I found this! Even better than what was in my head. Price is a bit high in my opinion but product demand, the market, materials and manufacturing costs all dictate that.

I would like to see it cut something other than soft stones. Do you have any of that. And what is the price . Most of the stones I collect for lapidary are 6 inch section of seam agate, doesnt look large enough to cut my rocks!

I think a pair of Channel Lock Pliers would be much more practical than needle-nose pliers. That looked a bit amateurish but machine is interesting.

Hello I’m looking for a trim saw and stumbled on this crazy machine. I know u said .4mm. But is there a way to get it below that if I’m just cutting glass? It’s Boro so it’s a little stronger then most glass but definitely not close to a rock slab. .009 to .015.

Man I wish I could afford one of these. This is insane in terms of slab making on the ease. Would you consider donating one to a starting club? If all goes well i would orobably be able to buy one around winter next year. Based out of Detroit, Michigan. Not a lot of freeform/artisan cutters over here.

What is the cost? And for turquoise how often you have to change out blades?

Hello! Thank you for reaching out! I am completely overwhelmed by responses to the Slab Master Saw. In response, I have created a new Facebook group. Please check it out and join! To answer your questions, diamond blades vary tremendously and are created for a wide variety of materials. We do not manufacture any of the diamond blades, as this is a science in itself. The blades we offer are generally designed for corundum, but will work on more than just rocks. Generally speaking, this machine utilizes 1M (1 Meter) of wire to string the saw. The blade life depends on the following: . Hardness of the sample . Size of the sample . Amount of weight on the bow We will be offering this as a complete kit which will include: 500M (Meters) of various sizes and grits of genuine diamond wire. Generally speaking, this will be enough wire to last a prolific cutter a year or more. We will be offering many options on the diamond wire going forward. These on average cost about 50 cents or less. This machine will be commercially available during Tucson 2024 (January). Please come and visit us at the 22nd Street Gem Show (if possible) to see a live demo and have the opportunity to purchase a full production unit. Its retail price will be $5,000 USD, as a complete kit. Most of the components are CNC machined in house in our North Carolina, USA facility. We will take deposits on a first come first serve basis, for units shipping in January. Typically, cutting turquoise with a hardness of 5 (the good stuff) the average diamond wire blade will last 10 to 20 hours. The same blades cutting a corundum (hardness 9) will last 2 to 5 hours. An average turquoise nugget 1" in diameter and a 5 in hardness will take less than 20 mins to cut. Remember, this is completely unattended and the machine automatically shuts itself off when completed. The slabs are perfect and have a nice pre-polished finish, even on Spider Web (very delicate) turquoise. You can even glue (3) 1" nuggets side by side, and cut 18 slabs, at one time, in less than 1 hour. This is a very flexible tool! Going forward, I need this community to share all they have learned about this new tool. If i may, i would like to post this comment and response to our brand new community forum. m.facebook.com/groups/319576267153465/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT Sincerely, Jason Kelley Show Off Lighting LLC. Anyone have guidance on the variables to cut stones of various harnesses? Wire diameter, speed of movement, placement of weight, etc? First stone was a piece of Louisiana opal, sandstone matrix. Didn't get anywhere, very frustrating. Now going to a piece of malachite to see if there is a better reaction. Video just says to change these variables depending on hardness but it doesn't give any more information that change is required. Not very helpful.

Your demi of the slab master was great, but you only cut soft turquoise. Let's see that saw do some REAL cutting on some true rock hard rocks. It's one thing to cut soft rock and another to cut on super hard rocks. Also what is the maximum sized piece of material that can be cut??? Nice idea for multislabbing.
