Thank you for this! Every other tutorial I've found for custom monsters demands DeHackEd, which refuses to run on the workstation I got for Doom modding. Is there any way to give these custom monsters new sprites within SLADE, as well?

Yes but for Zdoom related only. Creating custom monsters with SLADE is a piece of cake. All you need is a DECORATE lump which you can create with SLADE and work on.

I have passed the test making the Doomsday Cultist. It uses a BFG ball but the downside is, the textures for it is stolen. Thanks for your help bud.

What did you do with the Variety.wad to get DECORATE* was totally unclear. Can I get it from stock DOOM2.WAD? How to do it exactly?

You can create a Decorate lump by creating a new entry from the archive section. Once the new entry window opens up, select the type to Text and name the entry DECORATE and you will have a Decorate lump. Note: the variety wad was just a test wad file from where I just copy pasted the Decorate lump.
