It's always fantastic to hear airchecks from the heydays of Beacon from 1976 to 1979. George Ferguson is interviewing them. He presented the 7pm to 10pm "Pop Show" from April to June in 1976. The IBA ordered Beacon to remove the show from the station as it was too good and competed directly withRadio 1 and Radio Luxembourg, which wasn't the IBA's idea of commercial radio. What a missed opportunity. Beacon was the wrong station in the wrong city at the wrong time. Had it been in London Beacon would've been the number one station.
