Saw them the only time ever in Donington 1981 when the weather was horrible, everything wet, long queues everywhere, drunkards falling over, bad mood and karma all around. And then Slade took the stage and transformed the audience into a jubilant expression of Joy. People ripped wet grass from the ground and threw it in the air. Everyone knew the lyrics and were in ecstasy. They knew how to control a crowd. It was fantastic.

Remembering seeing this performance on telly in '84, only 12 years old. Still loving these guys. Check out violinist/bassist Jim Lea's album Therapy from 2007, it's superb.

Lots of ppl, thing "Slade" only played in Slavic countries. But here the're live in concert in Sweden. Amazing, would definitely see this band if they played in the US, specifically Philadelphia.

Only played in Slavic countries? They’re from Wolverhampton in England.

@crackpiipe - I know your comments are a few months old, but if you look around on here you will notice a lot of bands played to playback on these programs (seemingly in Europe.) Top of the Pops, this program, and others. In fact Iron Maiden made fun of this (I believe on this exact same show) by having everyone switch their instruments mid song, etc. I think it had to do with music union rules or the shows requesting it so they had the best quality performance.

Vocals were live, Noddy mucks up the beginning, nearly starts to sing on the wrong bar, has a wry smile about it.

Yes They are wonderful guys. lol ? by the way why is the singers voice much louder than the music ?
@sandrisjansons15154 жыл бұрын
Because he ( Noddy ) sings over the original soundtrack . Perhaps someone forgot to swith his mic off while the song goes on :)

@gripedwards yeah i now the standards are low on the music etc. but all i meant was that im so sick and tired of all the "live" gigs that bands do all the time. i hate playback, i hate autotune, i DONT hate slade, i love them but i dont think you should have a live performance if you cant do it without the CD playing in the background.
@crackpiipe14 жыл бұрын
Not even plugged in -.- god damn the standards were low back in the days .. can you imagine that people actually believed that this was really them playing ?xD
