It won't work. How are the courts going to cope with all the gang members filling up all the courts AND NO staff to deal with everything as they have been sacked. The government is delighted that the cops have charged 12 gang members in the first 24 hours. However I can't see how our over worked police are going to follow around the thousands of gang members and take their patch off of them. I wonder how longbit will be before the tattoo their bodies with their patch? What will this Government do then?

Meanwhile NZ citizens wait an average of 3 days for police to come to a house burglary. Jenny Shipley brought in hospital waiting lists and 600 New Zealanders died the first year of its introduction. Has Jenny been held account for mass murder or was she let off because she didn't wear a patch? Justice in this country is nuts.

I live in Japan where similar measures have been taken against the Yakuza. For example, tattoos (not full body, Yakuza irezumi, but ALL tattoos on anyone) are banned from public bath houses. And other, far more extreme draconian, discriminatory laws have been effected. Yes, they have been largely successful in stamping out the Yakuza. Now, corrupt cops have slid in to fill the void (not to mention disorganized, small gangs of ruffians as well with even less of a code of ethics than the Yakuza). Enjoy your ban, NZ!
