What a beautiful project. To think, any old beat up piece of scrap rusting away in a paddock could be transformed into something of this quality, with the right hands and care. Long live the genius' that keep old school Aussie cars alive!

way to go grant. seems like a genuine good bloke. talented guy with a beer and a grinder. what a master piece of a holden. absolute talent they way this car has been built. what a credit to him. just shows you what can be achieved in a house garage rather than the ridiculous prices the shops charge.

Gotta love a wagon! She is so beautiful! Its a shame the world (GM) has fallen in love with SUVs. They just don't have the character of a wagon . I don't see people recalling there childhood with fond memories of riding in the SUV lol . I know I'm keeping mine tell it falls apart or I fall apart lol . Nice job 👍

Looks better than what holden would have done for a supersport wagon, if they ever made one full stop, in fact the color is almost the same as the project torana ,which is on display at port melbourne. :) Hum noticed so many similarities. :) great job champ. :)

Picked up a lot of ideas and very useful information from these guys. Cheers. Your work is a credit to you! Oh and I have a very useful tree in my backyard had all sorts of engines swinging from it from big block chev to 360 Chrysler to 318, plenty of small block Chevys,Cleveland’s& Windsor’s Lol. Few old valiant 245,265s and a 225 lol. Oh and too many Austin mini motors to remember Lol

I owned an HJ Holden sedan when I lived in New Zealand and I loved it so much that I bought an HZ SL Kingswood wagon when I got to Australia. I envisioned turning it into something that looks like the car you have if I was able to keep it, however my wagon was such a hunk of junk that I left it in Australia on the side of the road before going back overseas. I miss the sedan, the wagon not so much, although it looked cool it was just a bit too long in the tooth to keep it as a functional daily driver.

Well done !!!! My dad "gas axed" his 1972 model HQ Kingswood wagon which was rusting away in the backyard in 1996-1997 !!!! So, it ended up getting cut up for the scrap metal man after he sold the motor,factory jellybean ROH mag wheels & front bench seat to a couple of people. If I was doing up a HQ now,I'd bolt the one of the Chevy LS engines in as the LS1 in my VY Commodore has been tuned to put out 370hp at the flywheel with a stock engine. They develop a fair bit more horsepower with just exhaust mods & a tune before even looking at a camshaft upgrade, etc. My project car will be my 1986 model VL Commodore which runs a twin cam Nissan RB30 engine in it,it needs redoing now !!!! I'd just keep that car as a six because I've already got a V8 Commodore that I love driving,the later model V8 matches if not beats some of the sixes in fuel consumption, it actually matches my VL as far as fuel consumption goes so why bother buying another six ????

That would look awesome in a Holden Dealership next to the last of the SS V8 wagons. The Warrnambool dealership has 3 SS LS3 wagons, this would look insane as a side by side centre piece in the new showroom

Hugh jazz. Your rite, in Frankston Victoria they have a mint vk berlina wagon sitting next to the last hsv wagon in the showroom, the vk wagon is indentical to the car I picked out for my dad when he retired many years ago, since he is no longer with us it brought back a lot of bitter sweet memories Both for the loss of my father and for Holden closing. I have an old copy of unique cars here from 1990 and hq wagons were being thrown out for scrap now they’re gold.
