Cheers for the upload. As a South African rugby fan I truly appreciate the Welsh passion for the game. This documentary drives home the fact how much the game means to its true fans even at the worst of times.

As an Englishman, there's never any doubt who I want to win when we play Wales, but I'm always pleased for Wales when they win. The romance of Welsh rugby is just beautiful. Thanks for uploading!

As a NZer I can say that Haden's dive in 1978 was absolutely shameful. He never really lived it down. Years later I actually played with him and asked why he did it, and his response was to say that Wales had been getting away with murder in the line-outs and that was the only way the ref would see it. Not convinced.

I'm nearly sure there was a 'Slammed' 90's and 00's versions as well. Are they online folks?

Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the upload. Irish fan here. Any chance you could upload the one on the 70's?

There's a great documentary called ''The Crowning Years'' on Welsh rugby in the 70s. It's around 3 hours long and is available on YT.

Being a Wales fan in the 80s, seems remarkably similar to being a Man Utd fan in the last 10 years 😂

Genuinely thought that was going to be Andy Haden.

Terry Holmes was a phenomenal scrum half certainly. He was skillful and tough. His injury in 1983 Lions tour was a hammerblow. I think Dave Loveridge would not have been as influential as he was in that series if Terry played. I always rated Gareth Davies very highly too. Bob Norster was a phenomenal second row for Wales too.

One minor connection Wales were beaten at Cardiff during the golden era By New Zealand in 1972 (a case of you don’t beat wales, just score points than them) 1974 (the unofficial test, that if wales had of won would have been the one of the greatest wins of all time) 1978 (another case of just scoring more points than them) and 1980 (the all blacks were lucky, Nicky Allen dropped the ball while in the act of scoring and the last try had a massive forward pass in it) As a kiwi Going to wales I can remember having contrasting experiences with Welsh rugby fans The really good was shown around the Cardiff stadium, and treated like a rugby brother The no so good called a cheating kiwi, and that all kiwis are thugs etc and Wales had won both the 1972 and 1978 matches The 1978 match, Steve Fenwick seems to have forgotten how he broke Clive Curries Jaw, and the dives the welsh backs took to Win penalties, and the sly foot trip on Brian McKechnie, as he was chasing his chip and chase.

But Andy Hayden cheated. There's no getting around it, no matter which way you want to spin it.

And so did steve fenwick, and JJ Williams and who ever put that sly leg trip on Mckechnie, its international Rugby things happen from both sides Maybe if you welsh had of focused on improving from this point onwards instead of complaining the Welsh would have beaten NZ by now in 1988 could not beat one of the weaker NZ teams, Northland one wonder the fans up in Whangarei were laughing at the welsh that day @@matthewcoombs5298

@@matthewcoombs5298but it was Geoff wheel who was penalised for jumping off Frank Oliver’s shoulder. The Haden amateur dramatics had no influence on the result, unlike the cheating welsh pulling Bob Deans back over the try line into the field of play to prevent the ref awarding a match winning try

Okay…. I Openly admit my intense dislike for welsh rugby and the dishonest way in which they play it. But I am a working class man. Proud and strong in arm and in head. As a child I remember watching an old black and white film…How Green was my Valley… Those Valley Folk reflect my values…. Hard grafting families just being decent, honourable, trying to survive. No cheating, no underhanded behaviour as we now see so often in welsh rugby….but proud, honourable, hardworking men and their wives and families. I have always been drawn towards Wales… My Granfer….one of 8 boys who all worked underground in the valleys. A proud man…a very proud working class family who will hang their heads in deep shame for what welsh people have now become. Your sense of self entitlement is a huge insult to all those Welsh families who struggled so hard to provide you with what you take for granted and as self entitlement nowadays.

Try not to play the victim Glenn.. think of all those who your welsh teammates harmed, abused, fouled, and abused so unprofessionally.

1987..wales v Tonga .. I so love Glenn Webbe….. and yet…..look at the welsh team…just a bunch of thugs, no class, no real ability on display, just absolutely focused on cheating in order to win. Imagine just how much they could have achieved playing honourably and honestly. Wales, you shame untold many thousands of decent hardworking class Welsh people.
