The thing with barbarians is that they are a good source of dps via action speed boosts via passives and frenzy. And actual damage from additional might in frenzy and raw damage from blood frenzy upgrades. So instantly this can be a huge benefit for any caster multi including tempests (druid). Now for savages (rangers), the ranger part brings the accuracy, barbs bring the action speed. Also for SC barbs, dont sleep on driving roar. Apparently some builds use this and its a real killer.

That's correct but I also feel like action speed boosts the DPS for many other classes. There's a bunch of better ways for a Druid to get the same increases. Might feel differently after combing through the rest of the options.

26:33 note: if you make your ranger melee, you don't have to worry about that, yes melee ranger is viable, wounding shot works with melee attacks, if you're going that route, i highly recommend stalker subclass

Even if you stick to ranged, the action speed boosts and damage boosts from barb are worth it. Especially if you multi with a furyshaper. The action speed totem stacks with frenzy and stacks with reload chant. You could potentially lock down bosses with something like the thundercrack pistol.

Yes! Absolutely loved this game! Edit: Corpse Eater was one of my favorite subclasses RP wise. Made a wendigo possessed barbarian. Kept him single class for Spirit Tornado. Dude tanked everything and everyone.

Man, PoE was my initation into crpgs. 1st one was a beautiful love letter to (mostly forgotten at the time) genre. 2 built up upon everything one did. I just wish it was a bit longer.

Really well-timed series, being playing both games while getting hyped about Avowed! I'm doing a Chanter playthrough of POE1 and was thinking of multiclassing with an arcane archer in Deadfire - will see if your Chanter video changes my mind when you upload it. What are your feelings on Avowed right now? Are you on the hype train? Haha.

I'm not on the Hype train but I definitely plan to play it and expect it to be a decent experience. A little disappointed there doesn't appear to be any Chanter or Barbarian mechanics.

@@SlanderedGaming no cipher mechanics too! I feel you on that, for me ciphers and chanters are such an important part of what makes pillars unique, so not having them stings. I just need to believe that it's going to be great, so until I play it I'm going to blindly believe that 😂

Brute Force is EXTREMELY powerful if you pair with the morningstar modal "body blows". -25 to Fortitude on hit.

Don't forget Spriit Frenzy can give Staggered, meaning -5 might (so another -10 to Fort) (Credit to Aestus_RPG for tipping me off to that one).

Barbarian has to be in my top classes. It's been docked some points due to the lack of great axes in the game, however. After that docking, Paladin, Ranger, Monk would be ahead.

Action speed is pointless because I am not playing real time with pause lol. Also, Barbaric Smash recovers 2 rage for each dead enemy, and barbaric blow triggers carnage. So you can kill like 3 enemies at once and farm rage. So I openly disagree with you.

ln turn based mode that might be killer but in RTwP sticking with basic attacks is going to be much more effective.

main issue with the game is the ability to recycle resources and only a few classes can so if you want to go after those super hard monsters or other challenges its always the same 2 classes multiclassed

Phew I would have to disagree here - Barb is one of the best melee classes. Insanely strong class. Furyshaper is an incredible class and fits perfectly with a watcher. Arguably the best fit from a role playing point of view. Traumatized from previous lives... yes please. And a pure barb with either dual axes or daryn's voulge outputs some insane dps all the while doing great crowd control and disruption. I'd check out the build master Boeroers builds actually. Honestly does everything.

No, but abandoning crpgs roots seemed to help the dragon age franchise Which sucks for us who prefer crpgs(myself included), but is still nice for folks who care more about the story than the gameplay, the pillars world is very cool so I hope to see it flourish

It's not pillars 3. It's a different game in the same world. So we didn't go from anything to anything. It's like saying rogue trader changed to a crpg from an action game in space marine.

To be fair, it's not called "Pillars of Eternity 3", it's Avowed. It's closer to Mario Kart than Mario Odissey. Or Paper Mario. A genre departure from. My only hope is that if avowed does well (not sure how likely from how hard Microsoft seems to want it to bomb with the release dates) we can get a Pillars 3, though Sawyer doesn't want to do it unless it has a bg3 budget (very unlikely unless avowed is a smash hit and he also wants to really change stuff around(completely getting rid of RTWP for exampl) so i'm not sure if the typical audience would enjoy a pillars 3 even from the same people that did 1 and 2. (i'm down for getting rid of rtwp tho lmao).
