One great thing I've noticed about these songs is that none of them are overdone. The pace, the vibe and the approach to each song has balanced and authentic feeling. Not too aggressive or overproduced. Instruments and vocals have all been perfect. It's a real pleasure to listen to.

I've always loved Chris and the Black Crowes. Great team up here with Slash and Chris. Two of my fav musicians. Never thought I'd hear them join forces. This track slaps. I hope Slash does more albums like this where he gets guest singers for each song. Allows him to team up with a lot of different singers and get a lot of variety out of the music.

Respect for Hoyt Axton for writing this song, and for John Kaye and Steppenwolf for recording it and getting it on the air in 1968.

And 3 years later Hoyt would write “Joy To The World” which the Three Dog Night took the top of the charts. Fun fact, Hoyt’s mother (Mae Axton) in 1955, co-wrote “Heartbreak Hotel” which became Elvis Presley’s first hit (and first #1)😊

Nice cover, you never see anyone take on this song, it is so iconic. I saw Steppenwolf do this live in the early 70s at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT. They killed it, we were in the front, just to the left of John Kay, the entire place grew silent as he spit out the opening lyrics. Great stuff and glad Slash and Chris are helping keep it alive, one of the very best tunes of it era. 🎵🎸🎤🎶

Chris is back on point, and besides the nasty, grindy, unattainable late 80's GN'R sounds, Slash has the creamiest buttery smooth Rhythm playing these days, and those subtle blues licks that let's you know he's been hard at work honing his skills in The R&B department!
