My dude! Thank you for explaining this! I am normally a manual reader but I totally missed this. I am mixing a blackmetal band right now and the drummer is very heavy on kick and cymbals while being the tappiest tapper on the snare during the blast beats. This is going to make it MUCH easier to filter out those false hits from the kick!

This is awesome! Been waiting for a video tutorial on this for a long time. This process is in the T2 user guide, but was not very detailed. This is excellent! Thank you! I also us Studio One, so thanks for the pre fader send tip. That would have taken hours to figure out, lol.

I just got done trying this out. Been out here for a few hours. Recorded quick little mix of drums with lots of ghost notes, some fills... Took some time to find balance with levels in the sends and other details, but man, what a difference. Higher level today. Your'e probably getting sick of hearing it, but thanks again. Very grateful.

Great video. So, sending the snare track to only the left side of the bus still keeps the snare sample centered in the mix?

I’m using logic x and can never get that suppress feature to work. I followed the directions here but no luck .

Placing a Wilkinson Audio DeBleeder plugin before your Trigger works much better than using the suppress option. Plus you don't take up any bus slots on ProTools. The only disadvantage is that DeBleeder is not compatible with Big Sur/Monterey.

Nice explanation. I've been wondering how Slate Digital Trigger 2 managed that kind of discrimination versus the Addictive Trigger's Learn feature. Still haven't decided which way to jump ...
@GreenLightSound
@GreenLightSound 6 жыл бұрын
I have both but end up using Slate's Trigger more since I'm used to the workflow. One huge advantage of Addictive Trigger is that you can use all of the sounds you have in Addictive Drums, where Slate's Trigger requires separate expansion packs for more sounds.
@KozmykJ
@KozmykJ 6 жыл бұрын
@@GreenLightSound Did you mean that with Addictive Trigger you can use all of your own sounds via the MIDI extract feature? i.e. Export MIDI hits then use Impact I didn't think that Addictive Trigger let you use external samples within it. I've read that AT won't even let you use their own Addictive Drum sounds inside it, you have to output to AD2. EDIT - Oh wait ! It seems that now you CAN use your AD2 sounds in AT. The article I read was from last year.

Both programs let you export MIDI for your own samples. Addictive Trigger lets you use all of your Addictive Drum sounds, so if you're an Addictive Drums user and have several expansion packs (I think they call them AD packs) you have a lot of options. Slate Drums and Slate Trigger don't work that way - the Slate Drums samples don't work with Slate's Trigger. You have to buy a separate expansion pack for each program.

The bussing on the Aux channel with the pan hard left/ right deal... how does that work with a mono signal like the snare mic? I don't record the snare in stereo so what is the purpose of the panning?
@GreenLightSound
@GreenLightSound 5 жыл бұрын
The panning is just so Trigger knows which sound is the main source and which is the bleed to suppress. For example, if you want to remove bleed from a mono snare mic, just pan the snare hard left and the bleed elements you want to remove (kick, HH, etc.) hard R when you're sending to Trigger on the Aux channel.

Im having an issue where I have a tom hit or a tom roll and just before the tom hits there is a bunch of snare hits. The issue is the snare hits are basically the same velocity or volume as the tom hits. I can set it to where it doesnt catch the snares, but then it wont get all the toms, just some. Also I dont want to use a gate, but even if I do use the built in gate it still opens for the snare hits because like I say they are basically the same volume as the tom, maybe like the tiniest bit quieter. Do you think the supress will work even if they are basically equal volume? If not I may have to literally mute the entire tom tracks(except for the hits) but I wanted the bleed from those mics. The way my tom mics are set up is purposely to look across the drum facing the snare(partly why the snare bleed is so loud in those mics). They are still angled more or less at the toms, but not quite dead center, they face more at the far rim!
@GreenLightSound
@GreenLightSound 4 жыл бұрын
That seems like a perfect use of the suppress feature. Just route it like I did in the video and it should only trigger for the toms even if the snare is similar in volume.

I'm embarrassed to say I've always used Massey DRT to fliter out bleed and turn my drum sounds into midi data for Trigger to work with..especially on ghost note heavy snares, but this just sounds...way more viable.
