I genuinely hope that if Slave Zero X sells well then we get a genuine remake of the original Slave Zero. But changed to fit more the original concept where both the titular bio-mech and enemy Slaves look like more techno-organic nightmarish EVA-likes and the theme of becoming a monster to fight monsters and sacrificing some of your humanity is prevalent. Edit: Also Merry Christmas.

Nice! We had less than a dozen people on staff making this and made our own engine at the same time! Also, technically it wasn't complete as designed due to the Dreamcast version dropped on us in the last 6 months of development so we had to stop everything to tear it apart so it would even run on the DC. Great video, thanks for the love!

The scenery reminds me so much of Batman beyond and Bladerunner. Something about that kind of dark and gritty futuristic city covered in neon lights made in a dated 80s style is just so nostalgic for me.

It would be fitting that the mechs would be called "slaves" since I believe the name "robot" originally came from the word for slave.

What i conclude from the two mech shooting games I've seen, is what makes a mech fighter is to strafe really fast while aiming.

I found this review because Ziggurat Entertainment recently released a Quake total conversion mod for Slave Zero X and with the blessing of id Software, it was released as an official add-on for Quake Remastered. Seriously, I'm not making this up, there's so much effort put into this TC and it's unreal how Ziggurat Entertainment released this for free, especially on the Quake engine. Great review by the way, this game looks like a fun mech shooter, and is it just me or does the Slave mech look suspiciously similar to a Warforged from D&D? Although considering that Slave Zero came before Eberron, it's actually the other way round and it seems that Keith Baker has great taste.

Reminds me of Crackdown, My dad used to get Xbox and Xbox 360 Demo discs, one had Crackdown and NBA2K on, kept playing the Crackdown demo soo much my parents bought me the game for Christmas, its actually the game that got me hooked to Xbox as my dad kept buying PS and Xboxs and selling them later on when he needed money, soo after Crackdown i found Gears of War and Halo and by Xbox 360/PS3 generation ive completely dropped Playstation, used to play Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Devil May Cry on PS2 and Odd World Strangers Wrath and MX VS ATV Unleashed on OG Xbox so I was conflicted during that time

Hi Corax! I really enjoyed this video. I've never heard of "Slave Zero" before, but you described it well. For me, growing up, I'd play this game called "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance." I usually played two-player, with my stepdad. My least favorite part of the game was when you finish the sewers, and go into the crypts... Fighting skeletons and zombies 💀... Could never play that part by myself.
