It's weirdly satisfying to watch you clean as you go. I hope you never stop including those bits in the videos. It adds to the overall feeling that you're taking a great deal of care and precision with making these. And that's awesome.

You do incredible work and create some of the best handcrafted blades I've ever seen. I'm going to look into purchasing something of yours for EDC as well as for hunting and fishing. Ludo The Con Quérant Floris Postmes utilise beaucoup de lame de ressort, c'est bizarre que celle ci soit restée molle Peut etre en la trempant dans l'eau ?
@ludotheconquerant59056 жыл бұрын

How do you prevent the kydex from scratching your blades? I have issues with new (even blown out, cleaned, and disassembled) kydex sheaths putting small scratches into my blades.
@BlindRambler6 жыл бұрын
If you’re talking about during the molding, wrap your blade in tape before you heat the kydex. Smoothing out the edges after you’ve cut to fit would help maintaining your blade as scratch free as possible too.
@JamesKeeton16 жыл бұрын
10-4, I was talking about after the sheath is fully completed. Maybe I'm missing a piece of grit in there, but I'm making my sheaths now so that I can take them down 100% and clean them before final assembly.
@SLAVIKTELY6 жыл бұрын
Anything that comes in contact with a blade will cause it to scratch. That is why I don't play too much with knife being in and out of the sheath. Once it is done I check it and that is it. I let the customer put scratches. Sometimes I send the knife out of the sheath and let them be the first to place a plastic scratch on it.
@JamesKeeton16 жыл бұрын
Thanks Slavik, that's what I'm looking for. I've been utilizing a stonewashed finish more often on my kydex sheathed knives for this reason.... Scratches won't show up as much. If I hand sand to a fairly high finish, I try to minimize the in and out of the sheath just like you said. It drives me nuts... but I'm not a leather worker quite yet. You're videos are awesome, thanks for the content.

Yeah, seriously. It has been a wet winter here in NC. As for 5160, it's tough to forge. I didn't have a proper set of tongs while I was trying to forge it. It slipped and hit me beside the mouth. It was cooling down so it was probably 1600 degrees F. I didn't feel the burn at first. But it felt like I was punched in the face. So, yeah, I'll be making some tongs for the job next.
