if state socialism and small-scale self-organization both aren't the answer, shouldn't a global federation of small communes/councils/whatever be the solution? you combine the benefits of small councils but get rid of the downsides zizek mentions.

Part of what Zizek is describing is the Catholic social thought principle of Subsidiarity, which is basically that things which can be accomplished at the more local level should be accomplished at a local level and those things which can not be accomplished locally must be accomplished at a higher more organized, regional, national, or global level, up to world government.

I think so many people struggle because of his tics. I believe he does have Tourette’s as his tics have become more pronounced through time. You have to listen to his rhetoric though. I don’t agree with it all, but he spared no punches against the left, the right or the so called moderates.

Thats true. I think it has more to do with the way they are welcomed into the media circuits of "the left". The material is relevant enough, but this guy and his group have made sure to fail in teaching the victims of Capital why this is the case. They are more concerned in presenting the material as an ideology that could serve spectacular and postmodern exploiters.
