Well, I thought it was Russian nonsense, until I saw the 2019 PEESA. What kind of sovereign entity needs a foreign country to do this? The EU is a sovereign union now, but before the 2022 escalation it clearly wasn't.

@SVB222 All the bands are playing all the songs in unison. Ode to Joy is now also a universal song of peace among nations. this one especially should have shown all bands - as all the allies were joined together in this. Best wishes, Bob

@TheSc0pE my grandfather and his 4 brothers fought in the red army against the nazis too. one was killed in stalingrad, the others fought the fascist slime back to berlin and made it back alive. my grandfather and one of his brothers then marched in the victory parade in 1945

Славный сын своей Родины- Валерий Михайлович Халилов погиб 25 декабря 2016 года в авиационной катастрофе в Сочи самолёта Минобороны России, направлявшегося в Хмеймим (Сирия). Вместе с ним погибли 91 человек, в том числе 64 артиста возглавляемого им ансамбля имени Александрова. Останки идентифицированы после проведения генетической экспертизы в январе 2017 года. Похоронен 16 января 2017 года, согласно завещанию, на Архангельском Погосте в Киржачском районе Владимирской области. К большому сожалению в этом году парад будет без него...

The video is carefully edited to not show a US Navy Band - oh politics! Briefly it is seen at :29 led by a US Marines drum major. A few seconds more are seen at 1:20 The French get much more camera time.

I'm russian, my grandfather and great grandfather were fighting against the nazi P.S. not all the parts were in Russian Empire, after October Revolution 1917, RSFSR (Former Russian Empire) have given independence to Poland and Finland

It's tamburmajors/drum major, and silver sticks - tamburstock/mace. They are necessary for conduct of Massed Bands.

actually this Ode to joy was performed for European countries participating in this parade as an EU anthem. We never play it in our parades or elsewhere :)

Nice parade but definitely some old cold war enmity here, in the infantry parade the British/French/Polish and CIS troops get quite alot of camera time, while the US contingent gets a few seconds. Same here with the French getting alot more coverage. BTW not an American, just an observation.

It was more peaceful days, when Russia was as week as West wanted to have it, so they didn´t mind attending. US. French and British soldier attended the parade and I believe German chancellor was there too
