There's two villains in this game. The princess and the narrator. The princess is the physical monster while the narrator is the psychological monster. The narrator forces you to kill the princess whether you like it or not. Meanwhile, it is true that the princess is a monster, she has not done anything to you when you first meet her. The most weird thing is the idea that the princess sort of remembers the previous interaction and can be friendly or hostile when you loop back. I hope the full game has an ending where the Princess actually kills the narrator and you are left alone on whether to kill the princess or free her.

The way the Princess' form changes to match our perception of her would explain why she's considered a threat to the world. Perhaps people's fear of her ending the world actually changed her and made her capable of doing exactly that.

This game is being developed by the creators of Scarlet Hollow - another very creative & beautifully drawn narrative horror adventure I covered back in 2020.

Hypothesis: the "world ending" is the story ending. The Narrator is subverting the classic plot of the hero rescuing the princess so that the story doesn't end.

I have to point out that in Nightmare path, Narrator said he can't say different things about present and change that, but in any route that the player sympathize with the Princess, he outright teleport the knife and control hero's body, yeah, duty to uphold truth my ASS(unless different paths is not connected).

This is like Medieval Fantasy of Stanley Parable except seemingly the Narrator has more control over the character than you do. Overall the game is pretty solid. I hope for more flavor choices of this interaction once the game fully releases. I do want to see how bad the Princess does at terrorizing the world with you in it.

Is no one going to comment on how beastly the hero’s arm looks whenever we see it?

Since the hero is the dragon, he might feel empathy for the princess/monster because as a dragon he knows what it's like to be seen as a monster and hunted/vilified/perceived as a monster when it was just trying to exist or merely guarded a tower. Mayhaps he even developed a Lima syndrome, sympathy for the captive as a captor. So if the princess and the monster swapped places, it means the hero had to swap places too, and it swapped places with the narrator. The narrator is obsessed with doing the thing society perceives as the "right" thing even if it' monstrous. He is as obsessed with rewards that come from slaying the dragon as a heroic knight protagonist hired to slay the dragon would be. He is not neutral and invisible as a narrator should be. Just as the hero doesn't care he spilled blood for rewards, the narrator doesn't care he is locking up the dragon protagonist in a coma. So if the hero displaced the narrator, it must mean the true narrator is somethong else, like the setting or the story itself over which the narrator doesn't seem to have control over. The setting and story changes as it pleases, much to the dismay of the narrator.

God, this goes hard. I love the artstyle, I love the premise, I love the kind of choices the game offers and the consequences they have. But mostly, I love the music. It adds to the ambiance perfectly, all of it is so uniquely bizzare, in a good way. Definitelt adding this to my wishlist.

Ahh, I recognize that voice :D The narrator is also playing the archivist Johnathan Simms from the Rusty Quill archives. Lovely horror pod btw.

Of all the little changes that happen between paths, I think I like the fact that a fence around the perimeter has quietly been added on the "The Stranger" path at

I don’t trust either the princess or the narrator. He clearly has no idea that the princess is an eldritch being, and thinks that sending you into a comatose state is a good reward for killing her.

I just want to comment on how the tone of voice was miraculously captured in this game. From the shaky voice expressing sheepishness to the perfect transition of an intimidating pitch change, it's astonishing. The actors gave it their all.

I like the dude's voice acting! So many personalities with the same voice, but different tone
