I definitely prefer seeing normal runs (of anyone, Defect included) over dailies. The dailies almost always seem like they are easier than a just normal vanilla run unless you have some really bullshit modifiers, which doesnt happen too often.

If you don't have to discard clumsy, don't discard clumsy. Discarding it means you have to redraw it. Similarly, with the defect, if you have an opportunity to play a power that you don't want to see again, play it. Discarding it means you have to redraw it.

The one run where NL benefits the most from curses because he gets extra HP and strength. And he can even get 175 gold on top of it. He's like "Nah, brah. Let's not take this curse which the entire cursed run mechanic is about." Edit: Wait a second, did transforming the Normality give NL another 6 HP.
