fun fact: dodge and roll is the only card in the game (besides reinforced body, I guess) that scales faster than 1:1 with dexterity. In a deck with 3 footworks, the card can save you so much pain.

I don't know why nl doesnt get it but basically later on, u can only win with defensive decks, shown by the winrates of cards on high asc. Best defect deck is 100% frost focus. Did the heart the other day flawlessly with it, it's just op.

Stop taking that comment so far out of context! He had a Consume+ and Inserter! He had no need for a card to take up space and 1 energy when he already had great Focus income. (unless there are other situations where NL passed up Defrag, in which case keep railing him.)

@@randysterbentz5599 He got Inserter later in the run. When he dismissed Defragment, he only had a Consume and nothing to make it pop off. He was right to take Inserter, but he didn't have the synergy to make Defragment not worth it until the end of Act 1

Egg extinguishing the torches? Shambler incoming. TL;DR: > One big notable thing: Egg actually fights elites. He still isn't playing as aggressively as he could, but he needs this instinct. Getting strong relics (or upgrades) makes the game much easier than going through the first act at full HP then wondering why everything hits so hard. > Terrible deckbuilding to counterbalance the good map play. There were definitely cards worth picking up outside of Poison that would have made life much easier. > Alchemize low-key adding 100 damage to NL's boss fight. > Good on NL for being confident enough in Wraith Form to use it correctly. It's a hard card. > Deadly Poison is actually a good card, especially upgraded. > Having an unupgraded Neutralize all the way at the final boss is as funny as it is sad. Act 1: - Combat is actually fairly unlikely with only 2 question marks, but the formula's not actually said. Also, I'm still unsure about the value about the Colorless card choice - I think I might need to play with it more, like Blizzard. - Wail would have been a pretty easy choice in the first pick. At least he's leaning more towards taking cards, I suppose, but he desperately needs some value since he's pathing directly to the Fire elite. - I don't think NL should have pathed towards the shop here after spending the removal. Deadly Poison is a good pickup, though. - One Deadly Poison does not a poison deck make. Crippling Cloud is a good pick agnostically for Sentries, though. - I don't particularly like Alchemize; Backstab provides more reliable and immediate presence. It can definitely be useful to fish for potion combos, though (or just Thorns Potions). - Resting at 38 is highly unnecessary, especially not with the Bird Faced Urn. - 1 HP probably worth sacrificing for the Potion. - Maw Bank is basically right on the edge compared to Sapphire Key, especially since NL gets so much gold from enemies and doesn't have to face the shop penalties of Ascension. - NL's already commenting on how the deck is impotent offensively, and he still passes up the Backstab. - There is no theme, NL! There's only 2 poison cards in your deck, one exhausts and neither upgrades, and you desperately need both damage and deck thickness against Hexaghost. - Tools is good with both Hand and Urn, which coincidentally make deck building incredibly easily, especially since it gets rid of Burns, but NL severely lacks in damage. - Recalling is still awful. There are literally no upgraded cards in NL's deck. - Astrolabe is better than Ring of the Serpent here - it simultaneously removes 3 Strikes and adds 3 likely to be good cards. Corpse Explosion is an easy pick even outside of poison because it makes so many fights so much easier. Act 2: - I do like how NL's actually looking at the map now. - Art of War actually has very good potential with this deck. - NL deserves to lose for that comment about only picking Poison cards. Sucker Punch is one of the best attacks in the Silent's repertoire, especially since it came preupgraded. It even synergizes with the mythical poison build itself, since it'll be more likely to get Weak through artifact stacks (like the one both Act 4 enemies have). - I will complain about your deck being thin, since you haven't actually made it much better and are mostly subsisting because you've been given extremely strong relics. - You take Heel Hook+ and not Sucker Punch+? NL, you have 3 turns of weak in your whole deck, and 2 of that comes from the exhaustible Crippling Cloud. - NL getting pretty lucky with these exact lethals. - NL's literally only seen 2 poison cards and has the two best power relics in the game, and yet he decides that poison is the sole archetype that he can run this game. - Deadly Poison would be my first upgrade, but Footwork is always good to upgrade. - I would have utilized Art of War more during that 3 slaver fight. - Using Alchemize over Crippling Cloud would have cost NL the run if he didn't spot the last 2 lethals. - Ghost in a Jar is very good for the Champ. Good move ditching Thorns for it, even though Thorns crushes the final boss. - Two Noxious Fumes is not worth the effort, since Noxious is far, far too slow for the Heart apart from stripping Artifact. Footwork was miles better. - Wraith Form is quite good against the final boss. Fusion Hammer is definitely better than Hovering Kite since NL's so energy efficient anyways, but he still does need that fourth energy. Act 3: - Apotheosis could be really big here. - NL doesn't remember that he plays 5 powers every single fight... - Don't think I would have taken the extra Bane. Dodge and Roll would be much better with the trillion Dex NL's gaining left and right. - I really wish NL could get a Heatsinks, ngl. - Madnesses are bad since they take up even more draw slots. I wouldn't have even bought Spoon - it hurts here more than it helps since NL will get more madnesses which just take up draw space. Maybe if he had some Acrobatics. - Bronze Scales is ridiculously good against the final boss. - I like the shop play, but he should have bought Bouncing Flask first. Also, gas, gas, gas, I wanna step on the gas... - Well Laid Plans also lets NL hold on to Dark Shackles as well. - NL really shouldn't have skipped, since he's incredibly unlikely to lose 50 health in a single combat and there's no downside to being offered cards and getting some extra gold. - Actually, Spoon works incredibly well with Shackles and/or Piercing Wail. Might be worth taking for that alone. - The "thickness" isn't an issue at all with Ring + so many of those cards exhausting. Act 4: - Thank god, he took the Piercing Wail+. - With so many Footworks, Wraith Form isn't terribly detrimental. - NL not Defending first and losing the Buffer for no reason. Good play on taking the 23 damage, though. Thorns almost did more damage than the entirety of his Poison cards, I think.

Public Access I think when writing you might have forgotten that he was offered a malaise alongside that second noxious and second footwork. I agree footwork was over noxious. But malaise was better than both of them in my opinion

Just a fun fact i discovered recently: stacking up multiple corpse explosions will deal damage equal to the enemy’s max hp * the amount of corpse explosion you stacked up on them. it can get ridiculous honestly

the best use of that is in a fight with one big dude and one small dude; hit the small dude with 2 or 3 corpse explosions, and you don't even have to care about the big one it's also hilarious to do on a boss, as in, I killed Donu, and Deca took like 2500 damage

Its weird how in love he is with a Caltrops focused deck yet is so iffy on poison. They basically operate on the same principal of set up and turtle until everything dies. Sure, Catalyst can make for some flashy, quick strategies, but I stand by the idea poison is a patient man's deck. Art of War is actually useful fairly useful if you're going hard on a poison deck. When your main source of damage comes from skill cards you can get that free energy fairly often. He's stunned he's doing well as the Silent. I'm gonna chock this up to the fact that he actually takes cards when playing the Silent. Admittedly, this run he's avoided a number of cards to try and hone in on poison, but he's over 20 cards and isn't crying that his deck is too fat. So I don't really love Wraith Form. This is a situation where I know I'm wrong, but everyone's allowed a couple objectively wrong opinions so long as they know that its wrong. Once you start losing dex things get really scary really quickly. The free turns are usually worth it though, so I'm just a chicken. (Ok, so I guess once you have 3 Footworks and Oddly Smooth Stone you have a bit of wiggle room when it comes to the dex lol.) Buying Ornamental Fan because 'why not' is stupid. You intentionally chose a route with two shops. Why are you throwing money away for no reason. . . . . . . . Oh hey look, its the Specimen. But don't worry, you got that fan instead. Super worth. And the Act 4 shop had Clockwork Artifact. While both of these aren't really make or break for the run, I'm more pissed off on principal. (The Spoon was a good pickup tho.) Holy hell, NL's use of Madness is infuriating. Use the rest of your cards, then pop Madness on the high cost card when its the only target. Bouncing Flask and Corpse Explosion should have been free for 90% of that Heart fight. Good win in the end. Fairly solid deck with a clear focus. Fairly decent play too for the most part, the exception being Madness. Chalk up yet another Heart kill for the Silent. Here's hoping the Defect can get on the board (Making yourself am impregnable fortress of ice is pretty nice. Just saying.).

I know it's been nearly 3 years, so I'll give you a refresher before I comment, in case you see this in your notifications and are like "What the hell is he even talking about?" It was a slow poison-based deck by the end of Act II, relying on 2x Noxious Fumes+, 1x Footwork+, 1x Corpse Explosion, & 1x Deadly Poison. As his rare from the boss he took Wraith Form, just because it's a power and he had Mummified Hand. Now, I know people say Wraith Form is good, and I believe them (even though I never roll it myself), but you don't take it on a slow deck. That's just asking for trouble.

The Astrolabe disrespect hurts a little. Removing three strikes, replacing with three upgraded cards. There's almost no downside, since they were strikes anyway, but possibly a tremendous upside. The right Astrolabe roll will win the game on the spot. With Mummified Hand and Urn, could have rolled a power or two, monumentally good.

Why not? The earlier you get it over with the better. Recall is ok Elites are easiest on A1 Relics are of course situational

@@bastil6743 That is objectively wrong, while elites are indeed easier on Act 1, it is better to upgrade earlier to have an easier time throughout the 1st and 2nd acts and then recall on the end. Your battles are easier throughout the game if you upgrade earlier, and you don't get anything by recalling until the end of the Act 3.

It will float your hand with a card that basically does nothing in the more difficult encounters later on, instead of drawing a key power etc. in your opening hand you end up with only 4 cards instead of 5, since 11 damage for 0 is not what you need in most combats later on which require you to have a good start or set up your deck.

NL, with Mummified Hand and Madness, if you have the energy you should use the cheaper cards in your hand first. That way, the freebie effect is guaranteed to hit the expensive card. It's more value over all.

Recalling in the first act is bad Playing a block instead of a strike to stop 1 damage against a scaling enemy (sans Runic Dice) is bad, especially against hexaghost. Leaking small amounts of damage is fine in A0. Taking that 1 damage then might mean you don't take 10 later.
