You don’t often hear dudes complimenting each other so openly like these women were. I really enjoyed hearing that lack of self-centeredness. On top of the fact that these are three of the best climbers anywhere! We need more people like this in our world!

You do though. It's quite common in climbing videos from US nowdays.

You need to hear Jimmy Webb talk about Daniel Woods, or Alex Honnold talk about Tommy Caldwell, or Sharma and Ondra talk about each other. Or hell, just listen to Stonemasters talk about Bachar, Long, or Bridwell. There is plenty of admiration for others expressed in rock climbing and it is not exclusive to women.

Most professionally-produced climbing vids have only a tiny amount of actual climbing. Because the companies assume most non-climbers aren't going to be interested in seeing more than snippets.

Yeah it's bad practice, climbing is dangerous, get over it.
@philipppuchner11156 жыл бұрын
@@trevortolbert5703 doing things like that is just stupid. Stupidly dangerous malpractice! But probably this shot wasn't taken in the current situation/climb, probably it was done elsewere and put together in this part of the video? No climber would have put THAT shot into the video!
@trevortolbert57036 жыл бұрын
@@philipppuchner1115 Yes, letting go of the brake strand is universally considered poor practice, but with a grigri it's unlikely to hurt or kill anyone. But as you said, this shot was more likely when she was pulling slack after lowering a climber and poorly edited in.

SLAYER kind of used the runes of the SS for their S. But y'all went all out those are straight up SS lightning bolt runes. That being said it's a shame y'all didn't use Angel of Death or any song by Motorhead. As Lemmy wore old German uniforms all the time. Climber kids today don't listen to rock n roll anymore it's kind of a bummer in the gym.

Why does gender politics have to be involved in everything these days? Why can't 3 people of whatever gender/sex just go have fun? 3:45 Just imagine Chris Sharma, Joe Kinder and Dave Graham sitting around talking about their masculinity and developing a hashtag for their next trip. Kind of cringe worthy.
@inasterisms6 жыл бұрын
I guess because climbing is dominated somewhat by men, like many outdoor/extreme sports. It can be pretty intimidating to rock up to a climbing gym and find yourself surrounded by lean guys doing ridiculous moves on a moonboard/campusboard etc, so it is a bit nice to see an example of female climbers killing it :)
@fejugaism6 жыл бұрын
Why women should be like men?
@DCassidy426 жыл бұрын
People should be judged on the merit of their character, not whether or not they have certain feminine or masculine qualities. In the case that someone has either characteristics, does it really warrant examination when the purpose of a rocking video should be about rock climbing?
@fejugaism6 жыл бұрын
Said who? if I want to talk about my feminine side let me talk about it and never ever tell me what a man, a woman or a non-desicive one should do.

i feel like you're overthinking how rewarding it can be to bond over certain parts of your identity. besides, there are many, many, many men who have sat around talking about how it's a "day for the boys" while cracking jokes about being bros

It is hard to imagine that SOOO much flowery and exorbitant compliments these rad climbers actually tell each other face to face when its off camera. I would suggest the scripting crew of La Sportiva media department consider a more down to earth and realistic crag banter. We know how great these girls are and how hard they've worked. Great video, otherwise.

I gush about my climbing partners all the time. The ladies (and gents) that I climb with are inspiring, fierce, amazing, badass, kind, and whether they climb 5.9 or 5.12 they inspire me and teach me and push me to be the best climber I can be. I hope that your climbing partners have plenty of flowery and exorbitant compliments for you too, because I know that I only have good things to say about my climbing partners.
