THANK Fkn YOU. Best Drum breakdown ever ( for me ) i know there's a million metal djenty whatever breakdowns since, but that shit is simple, and lit and resolves into glorious chug. Also best opening. Oh, and for the record i knew of Slayer before they released an album, so if you think i don't know sht, wrong, seen them a over a dozen times a quarter of them in the 80s alone. I love that song, absolutely one of my fav Slayer songs by far. Not least every other song on that album. But that drum breakdown is my favorite ever. Edit: and actually the drum sound in general on that album is one of my favorite ever. dry, in the room to the face, dynamics are not buried by studio bs, it's all raw Dave. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

@@surf101- these guys are not in it for the brutality and aggression or even technicality. most people aren't. that's subculture stuff. the fact is that metallica -- and primarily lars -- have a focus on /elevating/ their material musically in a way that makes it appealing to people like george and ryan. they have a musical crossover appeal beyond the genre goals and shibboleths of thrash. dave lombardo being able to technically outdrum a hundred larses is really just not relevant for a crossover listener. same with, for example, jazz. there are genre geeks who have some idea of a "project of the genre", which is going to be at least somewhat COUNTER to what sounds good and normal to a mainstream audience. you like dave and slayer because they are doing something OUT THERE -- something COUNTER to, HOSTILE to the sounds that broad-appeal music is going for. that's what you like about it. So don't be confused when you see someone react to it that way. that is in fact the point.

As for the Slayer solo(s). Actually both guitarist Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman (R.I.P.) on this song and usually in general the two guitarist go back & forth on the solos. If you were listening to this song with headphones the left channel would be the one guitarist solo then it would switch over to the right channel for the other ones solo, and they tend to to always go back and forth for their solos. So I think off the top of my head each player had basically 3 solos. I always thought it was pretty cool kinda like a solo duel type battle. With this in mind it really makes one appreciate the technicality they put into each of their songs.

You cannot drown out Slayer!
