It's a good accent that made me think twice but it slipped a couple of times in his first season, which gave the game away. The one that really got me was Wesley/Alexis Denisof as I was convinced he was English. Even when I saw him playing an American in a show called Bugs (I think?), I thought he did a great American accent. Turns out he is American.

This clip with her and James on UK words shows , with the hairstyle she rocks, she could easily play 99's daughter, or mor believeably her granddaughter if another continuation of Get Smart were done. Looks like 1970s Barbara Feldon! Something's with that cast with the age thing, I mean Charisma was DOUBLE Cordelia's age right from the start and in some of the closeups, looked NOT like a 10th grader, but a 7th grader! Only other actress I've seen have this ability to shed half her age is Lana Parrilla in Once Upon A Time , her 40 year Ms Miller playing her 18 year Regina self.

They could all act their original parts again, in the Buffy verse there’s a million different reasons they’re all older, a witches spell, a dream, another dimension, another world, you get the idea. Amber will do a great job 👍

Emma is 100% right about how Anya "was handled" in the show. I remember being so mad, and still am 20 years later, about how she died alone in that school hallway like she was just some random side character. After the end credits started rolling I was in disbelief. I feel the same way about what the showrunners did to Cordelia.

I don't think that's what she ment. She have said before that she demanded that they killed off Anya so she wouldn't have to play the character again and that she felt the death fitted the character, but maybe a bit too abrupt. I think she means how the character was handled and how she was treated overall.

@@omigawdd They did, yeah. Even if it's true as JW claims, that the original idea was for her to die as the big bad at the end of season 4, they way it was handled felt so wrong and pointless. It was character assassination. Thankfully we got the real Cordelia for that special episode in season 5 but what was the point in killing her then? That they couldn't afford her and Spike at the same time didn't mean they had to kill her.

You know what I really love about ‘Slayers: A Buffyverse Story’? The fact everyone in it aside from Laya Deleon Hayes are returning to their characters and roles because they really miss playing them. Like I’m maybe being a bit presumptuous with this because it’s a small company but I can’t imagine the pay is very good. But I don’t think it’s about pay for any of them. They’re doing this because they truly want to. They miss their characters enough to want to. Especially James Marsters. I swear that guy just does not quit with being involved in absolutely everything to do with the Buffyverse when it comes to the fandom and fan service. He is honestly there for everything. It’s a bit mad actually but I love him for it. As I said before. You won’t see the big names joining because they’re all about the money and that’s their right. There’s nothing wrong with that of course. But I do have a lot of love and respect for this rag tag lot that has been put together to do this project primarily because they want to. Because they’re passionate. INTERVIEWER: “Why and why now?” AMBER BENSON: “I think the world has gone kind of bananas recently and, (and I say recently - I mean the last 5 years) I think we need more stories of powerful women on both sides of the dark and the light. And I think it’s really important that we, that we sort of - we show women doing powerful things. Taking control of their own destinies and making the world a better place. And I think that sometimes you just need to leave your cruddy, like cruddy day and live in this world with us. And I think that’s the best you can do with entertainment. You can take people and give them a wonderful experience where they feel magic and power and they just want to live there with us.” I also love what Christopher Golden said about Druscilla’s goal in this story is that she just wants to make the world a better place from her perspective of it. You know - giving all vampires this paradise where they can all thrive in the sun together as a society. That’s kind of lovely in seeing it from her perspective. And yeah - it’s totally something both Spike and Dru would do. Not try to destroy the world but “save” it. It’s about trust and respect and the major companies want to squash that. No it’s not me being all “I hate capitalism” and blah blah blah. It’s not about that. It’s about the power behind it all. They want to take it away. And it’s individual projects like this - attached on to a well known and beloved franchise or not - that keep things in balance and do not let that power leave. This is a team of people basically saying “hey, we were not happy with what you did to us - did to our characters - and we’ve come together to COME BACK in every sense of the phrase. This is us taking our power back and putting it where it actually belongs!” Yes, it’s a slap in the face to Whedon. Absolutely. As it should be. Because he dealt a pretty hard hand with something that was very important and beloved. And that’s why this project will remain small even if it’s continued. Because there’s a huge risk in making it any bigger than what it is now. And I’m fine with it being small. You know - I’ll support it either way because just like the entire cast - I trust Benson too. You know, I’ve heard several interviews from her now - related to this and promoting some of her other works - and every time her message is the same. It’s power. It’s power that she wants and that she’s striving for and I’m all for it. I am absolutely in her corner with this. There’s comments of “women have power - the representation of that is in everything in art/entertainment”. Yeah, well, the thing is is it’s not true women empowerment. It’s only the illusion of it. And you know how I know? Because that “representation” is heavily steeped in gaining brownie points. It’s put there purposefully to make you feel like it is genuine. But it’s not. It’s absolutely not. I can tell the difference.

I don't even care that they aged (they look good but i get it...vampires dont age...wtvr), I still want some sort of reboot. This is a mythical world and just like how Dawn popped into the picture, there can be something that explains the reason they aged. I would LOVVVE something with the entire crew involved. Also, cgi exists, it would kind of cheapen it maybe?? but also maybe bring a 90s old school feel to it?? My only issue here is Amber’s reported intent for this series. Those strong voices have been around for decades. I think she’s undercutting the Ripleys, Sarah Connors, Leias, Coffeys, etc. that came before the initial Buffy movie & series. I enjoy some of the newer movies featuring characters like Wonder Woman & Sergeant Rita Vrataski, but I still circle back to the female characters of 40-50 years ago.

Had no idea this was a thing, many fans won't, i'm sure a good chunk of us are tired of the talk, some are sick of the letdown when these rumoured remakes never come to be, and some of us are sick of thinking we might have our classic ruined with another heartless remake to hit the screens. All i know is i'm giving this one shot, if buffy is a lesbian or anything else that is so far removed from what we saw over 7 goddamn seasons, if Angel and Willow are going to Qortoth and opening portals to the world without shrimp or anything else that feels as cringe and forced. i'm so out lol. no THANK you. turns out it's already been canned, that's funny.

I _really_ wanted to like this. Had a listen to a few episodes but it was just not very good. Any nostalgia you get from hearing these voices again is undercut by most of them (Cordelia, Tara, Anya, Drusilla) being alternate universe versions of themselves with completely different personalities so they're barely even recognizable as the same characters. The actors mostly do all make an admirable performance of it but imo the writing just wasn't there, not helped by the larger story choices. The ostensible protagonist, a self-described "Slayer reddit fangirl", has basically nothing to do but hang around and gush about how she _knows all the lore_ and occasionally stake or punch someone. For action, they made the bizarre choice of having no narration - except somewhat redundant intro recaps - so all fights (of which there are many) are just a random jumble of sound effects, impossible to follow what is happening, but then characters will also literally say what they are doing like "I totally just punched you in the face!" which makes the dialogue incredibly stilted and unnatural. In moving to audio they took away all the visual storytelling of the show but didn't replace it with anything, leaving only confusion and one-liners. Maybe the story becomes less bad in later episodes, but I couldn't finish it. There was none of the wit, humour or high stakes drama that made the original series. It felt like wish-fulfillment alternate universe fan-fiction. I support the sentiments behind the audioplay expressed by Benson and the others here - more powerful women in entertainment please, absolutely yes! - but they don't seem to have captured the spirit or style of THIS show at all. If you take out all the darkness and emotional low points and make it only a power fantasy you also lose all the emotional weight. Without the devastating drama Buffy would never have become the singular show that it was. In their haste to jettison the (now cancelled) original series creator, they seem to have also jettisoned everything that made it interesting. If this is what Buffy is without Whedon, Espenson, Noxon and co, maybe they should just leave it be.

I have to say, I don't really vibe with that take on Dru, she should not have the mental coherence to have such 'societal goals' really. She honestly seems unaware of anything beyond her direct surroundings and what her powers tell her in both Buffy and Angel.

Don't take me saying this as me saying we've done enough, i'm not saying that one day there will be enough media based on females that are strong, foreigners that overcome, that are both main characters, and then we can stop and just get back to male superheroes and crap, i'm not at all. It just comes across as hella inward when someone is talking about pushing women empowered stories into the world like its 2009 or something when half the globe seems to be at war atm, and 6 months ago, white males get slapped for having privilege all the time, when will actors living in a bubble get the same reality thrown at them.. like we've got the memo and we're making steps in the right direction, stop acting like its the most important thing going on, jeez. If they're going to do to Buffy, what they've done with the Ark Animated Series, that's crap, sell it to disney, they love pushing ideals in a less than forthcoming manner people say.

In other words any man can go do one, plus the quote "needing to change cordys narkiness etc to suit today's times. Therefore woke. And like I said. The original series was done very very well and made sense with character development over time.

We need more powerful female characters 🙄 yeah those aren’t in every single movie for the last 10 years. Buffy had a powerful female character before it was cool and no one had to force it. They just did a good job without trying to hard.
