I am an over the road trucker and a sleep apnea sufferer. I almost lost my job because of it -- we have to pass through an apnea screen as part of our licensing. I can't say enough about how important it is to get a sleep study done. Apnea has major health effects, and also has a significant impact on others in the household. Snoring irritates spouses! If you snore, you need to figure out a way to stop -- be it a CPAP machine or a good OTC solution.

Snoring is so common yet it is very dangerous if left untreated. Weak jaw muscles cause the mouth to sag and some people choke on their tongues. Interesting video though, thanks for sharing.

I am post op day 8 Transoral Robotic Surgery of Tounge Base Reduction + lingual tonsillectomy + epiglottoplasty + uvulopalatoplasty + septoplaty + turbinoplasty. I can really feel the difference in my breathing and sleep now. My doctor said the result will be maximum after 6months once all the wound heals, it will form scars at the back of my toungue, uvula and palate. The scars will prevent vibration hence eliminate snoring. Overalll she said she create the best channel possible for my airways. Recovery is hard. Still cant eat anything solid as now. Hopefully in 2-3weeks i will be able to eat at least soft foods. I recommend anyone for same surgery if u suffer from loud snoring like me. It improve ur confidence to sleep beside someone else.

The uvula is the gross fleshy blob that is used for snoring. For cartoon monsters it is sometimes important to use the uvula to scare children on Monsters Inc and University
