I can't obviously say anything definitive one way or another, but I'd be really surprised if they would sign a deal that would allow the label to intrude on their creativity like that. I know that it's a common trope that the big record labels stomp on creative liberties with artists, and I'm sure that is and has been true in many cases, but I think that's probably less prevelant these days. I think that labels know that artists can build massive followings and earn an amazing living without the label infrastructure, so I think that the negotiating power is a little bit more balanced these days; especially with a band that's been killing it like Sleep Token has lately. I feel a lot better knowing this is the same label that BMTH is on, because they really seem like they just do whatever the fuck they want. So, here's hoping that RCA extends that same courtesy to Sleep Token as well.

This usually happens if the band/artist fails to make numbers to the label but even if that was the case, RCA wouldn't be signing them. Major labels these days aren't interested to invest in small but "huge potential" artists/bands. We know the "major label bad blah blah etc" discourse but someone on the chat mentioned expecting them to go with Sumerian and honestly that would be a lot more WORSE situation for the band than RCA.

It's crazy how they blew up. Sept 22 I saw them at a pop up show with Nothing More with about 200 people. Sept 23 saw with them with about 3k people. Now they are playing 20k capacity venues. I do hope they get to keep creative control with RCA. Bands have been ruined by corp interference before. And agree - some fans have lost the plot. But you have them with every band. We don't know them and they don't know us. Being a fan is one thing, obsession is something else.

Just a quick story to hopefully make you chuckle…. I was tryna buy Sleep Token tickets for their show in Philly The Met… the tickets would go on sale while I was at work (10:00am). The company I work for gives us a break at 09:30 and a lunch at 12:00 so I would be able to buy em as soon as they dropped… for some reason tho i decided to go to the wawa during the first few minutes of my break and my idiot self left my keys locked in the truck and couldn’t get in… I eventually resolved all that got back to work and because of all that excitement I didn’t remember about the tickets until lunch and when I got on to buy them they were all sold out no with no resale available 😭.

Bring Me is HUGE still, but I'm just remembering how I saw them in September 2022 and they couldn't even fill 75%-80% of the venue in Nashville, TN which is crazy!! The pit was big of course, but the entire balcony/seated areas hardly had people in them. I feel like Sleep Token could absolutely fill that entire venue up easily instead of doing a show of 3,600 (which is the capacity of the venue I'm gonna be seeing them at in May). Way too small and SO many people couldn't even get ticket. Their team honestly needs to upgrade ALL the venues on the US tour because what!?

If anything, this is just an explanation for why any new music they put out will be the tipping point for their first of many Grammy awards and multi-platinum hits. ST now has access to a STUPID amount of funding and highly experienced support teams. I mean shit, just the possibility for a super mainstream artist like Doja Cat or Brittany Spears to hop onto a collab would skyrocket them to places like Top 40 rock/pop radio stations all over the world. This news is absolutely MASSIVE for ST. Really hope I can get my hands on tickets if they ever come to St. Louis.
