I rarely write comments, so sorry for interrupting! First of all, I am really sorry for your loss, but I am happy to hear you are finally finding a way to gradually face everything and heal yourself! I've lost my father very recently and it's been such a terrible ride of complex feelings and emotions. However, most of the time, I try to appear as if everything is just fine, which is a huge lie because my mind is in a such dark place. I've come to realize that I am doing exactly what you said, running away and bottling up. I have to say that this kind of music really gave me a chance to embrace sadness and stop being afraid of it. I learned that facing it is the first step towards healing, and for sure, the hardest one. Sorry for rambling but I really hope you and your daughter will heal for each other and with each other very soon! Also, thank you for being so strong in sharing your story and making people like me less lonely in these awful moments. ❤

I’ve come to learn that pretending I’m ok and wearing strength like a badge of honor to make everyone else comfortable was only wearing me out and hurting me. Being open and vulnerable is it’s own strength. Please remember it’s ok not to be ok, every emotion you’re experiencing is valid. And when you find yourself laughing, smiling and legitimately enjoying life, don’t feel guilty for living again instead of merely surviving. Grief demands to be felt…often and in a million different ways. I’m glad you’ve found a healthy vehicle in music to help guide you through the hardest emotions. Sending you hugs.

If you get that anxious, clawing thoughts-racing feeling, I strongly recommend “Sleep Therapy” by Ghost Atlas and “When I’m Gone” by Landon Tewers if you haven’t heard them-emotional lyrics and that desperate edge in the vocals. Also, “Let Me Be Sad,” from I, Prevail was my freaking anthem for months.

I don't know you, so this might not achieve the purpose it's supposed to achieve, but I think his message is, that you saved yourself. Because while Vessel isn't here to physically help you he obviously did help you with his music, that's why you are thinking this, but it was also you that gathered the courage and strength to face another day, so if anything, it was Vessel *and* yourself, that saved you. Obviously I am not here to tell you that you are wrong, just want to make sure that people take the time to appreciate themselves, I bet that's what Vessel meant with "Loving oneself". Whatever you are/were going through to feel like this is valid, and you deserve to hear that you did great by getting through it, nobody can take that away from you. Since I found Sleep Token I come here occasionally just to listen to these words. I'm planning to go to a concert of theirs very soon. I hope I can make it and not chicken out. I've not been anywhere completely by myself for over 15 years...maybe longer. Masses of people scare me. The world scares me. I've been confined in a room that is barely 11m² big because my depression and anxiety has kept me there. These musicians are the reason I'm trying to break free again. I had given up. Completely. It sounds absolutely horrible I know, but I was basically just waiting to die. But something about their music has given me that tiny spark of hope to at least try one last time. Now I am waiting for the day of the ritual, ticket at the ready and hope I'll have the mental strength to actually go. It'll be a dive right into the deep end for me. Even if he doesn't think he saved people, I think he gives people something to hold onto when they can't swim on their own anymore. A moment of reprieve. When things become too much. And sometimes that's all it takes. Someone to float in the dark with you until one of us has the strength to swim a bit more again and we can take turns. To know there's someone out there that gets it. I feel like it's a push and pull. We are all saving one another in some form and that's absolutely beautiful to me. And I mean all of us. So thank you to all you worshippers out there too. We might not know one another but I want you all to know you are lovely and you are appreciated. Love to you all. Worship.

Good luck with getting out to their show, I know it will be difficult but I really hope you get there and take that massive step which will clearly mean a lot to you. Make sure you take a copy of this audio and something to listen to it with. If you feel overwhelmed then stick the ear phones in and hear it again and know that everybody in that room, if they only knew your struggles, would be 100% supportive and behind you defeating those demons. You got this! :)

Update for anyone who finds this/cares: I did it. I went there. Didn't see much because I'm small and had to stick to the sides as to not get overwhelmed but damn was it worth it. I did it. I made it. All on my own. Maybe things will look up from now. Who knows. But something shifted yesterday. Even though Vessel and the rest of the band will never know this but their work shifted something important for me. Fingers crossed I'll find my way now. I can't think of anything more devastating or beautiful to say to a faceless crowd of people than that.

I hope that Vessel, the man behind the mask whoever he is, can see, one day if not now, that his gift to us, the music and letting us into this waiting room of his mind, is extraordinary powerful and a saving grace. To think that he feels about us like we do about him, about ST as a band, is low key mind blowing.

This might be the reason they are anonymous, to keep our attention on the music instead of those who perform it. In this new "gratification" age we live in Vessel just reminded the world that music is more important than the artist. So if there are no artists then it would be up to us to harmonize to ourselves (even if its a horrible sound) then still we could be moved and touched by our own voice!! Thanks for this reminder and this man is more humble than he is willing to share. What a marvelous human!!
