The joys of Koi keeping... Haha... I've been there and know how disappointing it is. Sometimes tiredness means you forget to solvent weld a joint and a flood occurs. Happened to me loads lol. But everything is looking good and once you get that pipework sorted it should work a treat.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I actually got really lucky. I needed to tighten up the thread on the pressure pump and if I'd solvent welded those joints I wouldn't have been able do it. I got a bit of a shock when I first flushed the drum. That elbow that wasn't glued as pretty much between my legs when I pushed the button 😂 Easy to miss things when your tired like you say

Nearly there Dan, all my filtration is gravity feed,with the pump after the IBC. I'm sure that will sort out the problem. It's going to be a cracking set up,well worth all the hard work you're putting in.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I'm kicking myself a bit for not doing it that way from the start. The ibc I've got Is a smaller one and hasn't got enough space for a 4 inch connector. I've measured and I can get a 3" uniseal in so that's what I'll be doing once it arrives
@garryrobson36343 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, just found your channel, really good videos 👍.I have the same set up as you, sleeper pond, liner, aerated bottom drain, Qk35 drum, diy IBC with K1, gravity feeding pump which then splits to a shower and return. All works really well. I built my pond 10 years ago now, although planning a new build as the sleepers have rotten and its falling apart 😳, so keep an eye on the sleeper joints 😉.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
Glad you've found tha chanel :) 10 years is not bad going for sleepers. Hope mine will last as long. As and when it rots out I'll rebuild from blocks. But ill worry about that closer to the time. May well have moved by then. Are you rebuildimg with sleepers or doing something different?
@garryrobson36343 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 luckily I have a tree in one corner and a ratchet strap that's banded around the outside holding it together. The sleepers are rotten on the ends so all the timberlock bolts, screws and brackets I had on the corners have nothing to grab onto. I think the box welded liner is holding most of it together tbh 👍(and a few patch repairs).. Next build will be concrete block and fibreglass.

Hi I’m a bit late to the show here as was 2 years ago lol I have a mate who runs a fish shop and I had the shock issue but was found to be a faulty UV unit …however here’s a great tip /trick he gave me….get a bicycle spoke & put a terminal connector on it then run an earth cable from that to a plug and plug it in …this insures your water is always earthed and stops any leaks on the electrics 👍🏻
@asterixborden-koi68813 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan yeah electrics not good I had trouble with mine kept tripping out not fun when it’s like 4am in the morning and can’t think what causes it, I tracked it down to the UV in the hood of my Clear Pond 25 water was getting into it so I just cut the power off to this and got a Evo 30w K1 media yeah I just had the same trouble with mine back flowing into the pond 😆 my filter frozen so I shut it down forgot about it and it thawed out 🤦♂️I came out to see K1 in my pond and blocked in my pipe work Not happy and no fun trying to unblock the pipe work Keep up the good work m8
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
The issue isn't actually my fault. It's a problem with the socket ring in the house not the wiring in the pond, it's all running fine on a different curcuit now. Sounds like a nightmare you had with everything freezing. We had some awful weather. I had small heaters running in the temporary pool so never got down to that cold thankfully

I did think about it but it wasn't handling the pump on its lowest setting and I wanted to run it a bit faster, 2 returns still wouldn't be enough. I'll swap it to gravity and just pump it back down the 2" return I've go. Save having to drain the pond again

Like you say mate if you are not 100 % on the sparks yourself don't do it get a pro in its not worth the risk

I've certainly learned my lesson. Although this issue wasn't my fault, its a damaged wire in the house somewhere affecting 1 of the socket rings, it's likely been an issue for a long time but only just discovered it now, I'm lucky it wasn't more serious. If I'd had my pond electrics installed by a sparky they would have discovered it before so lesson learned, got a sparky coming Friday.

@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
The issue is actually in my house wiring not the pond. Got the socket ring turned off for now, ponds running fine on a different curcuit. The ibc was meant to flow back to the pond via gravity, it worked fine on my temporary pond when the return was above water level, now the return is below the water level it restics the flow too much
