That’s for sure. There are so many times I watch bird videos that I’m like “wait, birds do that”? I can’t tell you the level of childlike excitement I felt last year when I learned about crows and how they can interact with humans and how smart they are. It’s still makes me so happy and excited when I see crows. Im so mad that I spent 36 years of life not knowing I can befriend a crow!

I had a budgie a long time ago who would share my cornflakes and have breakfast with us. He’d sit on my shoulder while I gardened. Lovely thing. Very human little things

@@stuartgreig2256 Gorgeous vibrant colours, I believe Lorikeets usually mate for life, so most of the time its a couple that zip in and out of the property. As cousins of the parakeet (budgies) they certainly call in a similar language.

We feed Jackie PASSWELL Complete Lorikeet, its a powdered mixture meant to be mixed with water but we generally mix it with some sort of pure fruit only baby food and water. That is her main diet and we supply lots of different fruits such as, grapes, banana, watermelon and lots of apples. We also buy her a fruit bar (specifically designed for Lorikeets) that hangs in her cage.

Appreciate a sweet birb. I have an older rescue conure that ripped my chin area open today. A week ago my cheek. Frequently ears. Shoulders poke preenedto blood. Every few days hands get ravaged; at least blood not drawn as frequently now. How you mindfully care for this baby bird into adulthood, will determine whether they may end up terrorizing a future carer trying desperately to help the bird. Hopefully this bird is blessed with a loving forever fam flock.

I was a little kid .. and a bird I owned loved to snuggle with me it would get out of cage to lay next to my neck.. I woke up one morning my parrot was dead i think I layed on him ? Makes me sad till this day and I’m 27 be careful folks don’t make the mistake I did as a kid

I don’t want to be a downer, but I just wanted to warn you in case you’re a first time bird owner that “tail bobbing” (like what is happening at 0:07) can be a sign of a bird struggling to breathe due to illness. My lory started tail bobbing out of nowhere and suddenly became extremely ill and passed away, it was heartbreaking :( I miss him every day. Please look up tail bobbing and see if any other signs of a sick bird are visible in your sweet little lorikeet, just to be safe. I hope you can have a long and happy life together :)

We do have a platform perch and a hanging bed but Jackie has a very special place she loves to sleep, in a Mexican hat on the top of our kitchen shelf!! We will do a cage and preferred places tour soon :)

They are very similar to Ringnecks. I have a Ringneck that is cuddly and nice and capable of piercing my lips or nose at any moment. I love it with apprehension and bloody fingers. The fact is that it cannot say no but only demonstrate displeasure with a nasty bite. He/she (cannot tell without DNA testing) is starting to use the beak to warn instead of kill on site but it is important to let it wake up fully. Bad morning humor can lead to bleeding fingers. One its awake and fed its a charmer.

Such a sweet baby! I didn't check if this was a new or old video, but I enjoyed it none the less! I have 2 macaws, a B&G, Zeke, and a Harlequin hybrid named BeBe. Zeke I raised from a 4wk old chick, and even as a macaw, he LOVES to lay on his side on a blanket and have me tickle his tummy. He puts his foot in his mouth while laying on his side, it's adorable.....the funny thing is, sometimes he reverts to acting like a juvenile and he's actually going to be 29 years old, on July 1st of 2022! She’s beautiful! I have always been scared of birds not sure why maybe because at times they seem unpredictable. So to break myself from this feeling I adopted 7 budgie parakeets this last year. I am handling them and feeding them and they are a lot smarter than I anticipated. They trust me and some of them have funny personalities. While I am still nervous of larger birds it has subsided quite a bit handling these guys. I now get to experience the joy of babies as two of them have bred and laid 4 eggs. I have tree right outside my bedroom window that every Lorikeet parent seems to think is the perfect nursery tree for all their kids. Dump them there at sun rise and then go about their business, just coming back and forth for feedings.
