I quite often take a tennis ball with me that I've drilled a 1" hole in. I can then find a long enough branch for a tarp support. I stick the tennis ball on the end that props up the tarp so it doesn't rip.

Thats something Claire needed when she was in the stone hut to hold up centre of the tarp on 2nd attempt on Hurricane hill. I think I suggested 2 hiking poles tied together ,👍
@HikerBikerMoter Жыл бұрын
Guys, cut off the end of an empty coke/soda bottle and putvend of pole in that. Also cut off the opposite (with the screw cap on it). Put your tent fabric between the cap and the mouth and screw if in. Its equivalent of a grommet. Middle of bottle? Turn it into string or rope by cutting it at one end (about 2-3mm width plasti strip) then keep cutting roubd and round and round until the whole piece is one long strip Ü

Loved that one Claire, made a nice change. Saturday just gone, Gramp’s was looking after 2 of his grandsons 10 & 7 when they came in from the back garden and asked if they could build a den? Thinking of your videos and, ‘What would WildBeare say?’ Both boys were taken aback when I said “Yes”. Without further ado off they went upstairs bringing the materials they needed down. I hadn’t seen the den or checked what they’d brought down and in walked Mum &Nan. When querying where the two boys were, I told them about the den. “No, No, No” said my daughter and out she dashed to the two boys sitting under the trampoline on her beanbags, with quilts, throws and towels adorning the circumference of the trampoline. The two women were less than impressed; however, once I pointed out their initiative and the fact that the boys were having loads of fun both women calmed down. Later on, my daughter told me it was their first day in months that they hadn’t played on iPads and the XBox and in fact were both sound asleep 😊 So thank you Claire, without your videos and enthusiasm I’d have probably said No. Guess who’s got the boys this weekend 😊👍

I don’t usually comment on videos but yours was well done without a lot of “ look at me and what I’m done”. I’ve spent some awful nights in the bush all over Canada and I can look back on them with a degree of fondness in the lessons learned. At my age now I enjoy my warm bed beside a wife I truly love,but I do venture out a few nights a year just to keep these bones in tune. Nothing like sleeping outside in a Canadian winter at -50c waking up to accumulated frost falling on your face from the frost buildup from your breath on your sleeping bag.

(08/20/22) Midge, that looked like a single tree that branched into two trunks at the bottom, but what luck they both fell at the same time. ‘WildBeare’ certainly made good use of it and imagine how she exercised for thought to bring both a large tarp and ground tarp, and a reflecting tarp to radiate body heat back to her. Really glad she also had a sleeping bag that had insert room for a blow up mattress and was low temperature rated. Her stove is like one I used back 2016 when I was TRYING to get back into camping again, but as it turned out, I got too old (76) to solo camp anymore, had issues, but did manage 4 days.

I was the Camping Chairman of our local Troop and taught Pioneering and Wilderness Survival Merit Badges. Most of the gear Claire carries with her would not be permitted for the boys trying for the badge. Plus, the requirements are more than an overnighter. I would suggest looking online at what other Boy Scouts and Troops have done to get ideas for passing the requirements, and not this video. In fact, I would challenge Claire to undertake a 3-day trip ( Wilderness Merit Badge style) with only that gear Boy Scouts would take into the woods for this Merit Badge.

I was impressed when you kept going in spite of the weather.

Aw what a lovely cosy den! I would never have thought of doing that with a fallen tree! I love my Bushbox XL, I need one of those grill things for the top though as I haven’t got one of those. I absolutely love those crispy sparkly mornings with the sun shining! 🥰💕 Lovely vid as always beautiful xx

Heyy Karen! Ahh thanks I loved this one so much 😍 I saw this tree on a walk and knew I had to camp in it haha. The Bushboxes are great aren't they :D I'm thinking about getting the titanium version at some point to shift a bit of weight. Same here, crispy frosty mornings are my fav. Thanks so much for watching my lil viddy and hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿Claire
