TucBroder right. Another song that’s clearly about cheating that people miss somehow is “lips of an angel.”
@TucBroder
@TucBroder 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikemck4796 Yeah. I mean, The Mistress aside, he talks about the blonde still in his bed... The song is obviously about cheating, although he still loves his current partner. I mean, the mistress and the spotlight thing could clearly be about the touring and taking the stage again, and "won't be alone" would refer to the crowd, but the blonde in his bed?

TucBroder I’m aware it’s clearly a cheating song. I understand most don’t listen to lyrics closely, but once you do, it’s weird to not get it.

Fun Fact: Jon Bon Jovi was staying in a hotel. He had the hotel concierge bring up a piano to his room so he could write. That evening he had writers block, and too much to drink, and didn't get anything down. The next morning he woke up hungover. He felt bad for having the hotel bring up the piano and not doing anything with it. He was looking out the hotel window and there was a wedding/wedding pictures/a wedding party down on the street. So he sat down at the piano and this song is what was written. So the opening lines are very true: "Sitting here wasted and wounded At this old piano/ Trying hard to capture The moment this morning I don't know/ 'Cause a bottle of vodka Is still lodged in my head...." Also fun fact: By the end of the video shoot, it had gotten too windy to land the helicopter to get Richie Sambora (the guitar player) off the mountain. So they had told him he was going to have to repel down the mountain. Lol he refused, the helicopter pilot gave it his best try, and all was well. 😂 Thanks for doing Bon Jovi! 🤘✌️❤️

First concert I ever went to was Bon Jovi. I was 13. Me and my friend spend weeks listening and relistening his songs and writing down what we thought were the lyrics to his songs (yes, it is that long ago😉) so we could sing along. Which was hilarious, because back then my English was sooooooo bad...🤣🤣.. But the concert? That was f%*cking great! So I do not have any objections to more Bon Jovi.

I went on a fan Club trip and we got front row seats. This gorgeous man looking just like this Sat down on the Edge of the stage right in front of me and sang this entire song. He kept looking right in my eyes...cuz that's what Jon does when he performs. I thought I died and went to heaven. Damn I was his biggest "Mistress" that night...his loving fan and audience. But this song obviously is for his wife and love of his life... Dorothea. Unforgettable for me for sure...A night I'll never forget. I've had interactions with other Rock stars but this one really ROCKED ME!🌹😍🌹

I love Bon Jovi. I was a teenager in the mid 80’s when they released their first albums.Jon Bon Jovi has been married to his high school sweetheart all this years. He is also the only artist that I know of that splits the profits with his band in equal parts. I think that’s why they stayed together so many years.

I fell in love with Jon in 1987. The first moment I heard Living On a Prayer, I knew he was writing my life story and so many songs that came after we're the same. We are the same age, but the first time I saw them in concert I was instantly turned back to a giddy teenaged girl again. ❤️ He is indeed a very fine man. 😍 Got to see him thrice. Never got close enough to "jump on Jon" tho, which was something I always teased my hubby about. LOL!

His 'mistress' he mentions is the band, and their life on the road. She - the band - calls him for her spotlight - the touring and the shows - "Tonight I won't be alone, but you know that doesn't mean I'm not lonely" is another gig, another show, where he'll be with thousands of people crying out for him, and still miss the one person he wanted to be with. 'Drunk' with adrenaline (and probably lots of vodka... and beer, but mostly vodka), but when the night is over, all that's left is the hangover of loneliness (and probably a major head ache). This song is about him staying away from his wife Dorothea while touring the world, how he misses her and wants to go back.

He's talking about the loneliness and how he misses his love while he's on the road. he's talking about how his mistress is calling him back to the spotlight. He's been touring and all he can think of is his girl. And yeah he had an indiscretion and girls flirting with him but all he can think of is her. At the end he says, It's you I'd die to defend. Omg, who the hell does not love Jon!!!

He wrote this song while he was on tour for his solo Blaze of Glory album. He asked the hotel, if it could bring up a piano to his room so that he cold write a song. (He felt inspired because there was a wedding going on outside his window. . You are right, the mistress he refers to in the song is the tour and the music. So, he is saying that the music is calling him back to the road. And someone mentioned it below, but he dedicated it to his wife (who was also his high school sweetheart).

80s ballads. Wow. We had songs for every moment, occasion etc. if you were happy then jam it up, if you were depressed then they had a song for you to wallow in or to pick you up, if you were cheated on there was a song, if you broke up there was a song, first love there was a song, got married there was a song and they were all relevant to each moment. 70s, 80s & 90s were the best in my opinion & I’ve been around a while and heard them all. Today’s songs all sound the same to me w the exception of a few. But definitely not like the good ole days
