Nice video mate, its one place I don't fancy at all is London in terms of driving my lorry. Furthest south I've been is a place called Congleton, some recycling place with a trailer full of crushed drinks cans if I remember right. Have a nice weekend you deserve it after this run. Rather you than me haha 🙈💪

Got through my first day as a class 1 driver Wednesday Darren. 5 drops in London,13 hours carnage but I got through unscathed thanks to your vids and little tips. Thank you.

That sounds a tough first shift so fair play to you 👌 if there's one bit of advice I could give you I learned the hard way is just follow your gut instinct, if you don't like the look or sound of something don't do it, never mind if "the other driver does it that way" it's your licence/confidence and pride at stake not theirs. Happy trucking bud 💪

That sounds a tough start mate, just remember not all days are like that. Take your time and don’t be pressured by the car drivers too. Hopefully it went a bit smoother for your second day

Tom Cruise has a house near that first drop that you did as it’s only a few minutes from Biggin Hill airport. The tankers at the tunnel are normally fuel and they shut the left tunnel and escort them through together for safety

I got caught up when they sat on top of Dartford bridge for 2 days. All deliveries to Kent at our company had to be postponed. Caused chaos.

Hi Darren, nice video. I was wondering what you, and anyone else reading this thinks about ADR or HIAB work? It seems to me like they get paid more for doing basically the same thing? I've been driving artic 1 month now so I don't know much. I need to earn back the 3k I spend on my licence 😅
@Life_of_Darren
@Life_of_Darren 5 ай бұрын
You will earn it back don’t worry bud, ADR is always good to have if you get the opportunity to do it (preferably if the company pays for it) but it’s a lot harder to get your foot in the door as once the driver is in they rarely leave that job. Hiab on the other hand could be fun but a lot of their deliveries are harder to access etc because you will be lifting goods into place, which sometimes could be someone’s back garden over the wall etc
@inkedtrucker2695
@inkedtrucker2695 5 ай бұрын
You can spend your money on ADR licence but without experience nobody gonna give you a job. You may gonna get multidrop on packages +20 drops a day if you lucky but the question is if you wanna do multidrop in the artic? Don't think so. If you talking tankers you will need also PDP passports for a terminal to collect fuel but you can't do it yourself company have to pay for it so without connection your ADR is useless. Pay for ADR these days are no worth a hassle. If comes to HIAB in class 1 is very good pay you can make easily £60K a year but you have to tramp all week and your hours are maximum you can do. Building sites are not fun belive me. Hard to access not much room to maneuver plus all the dirt. But if you like lots of stress and bit of challenge may be for you. Usually companies will pay for your HIAB but you will have to work this back 1-2 year contract with them at least. And last thing is that most companies want at least 2 years class 1 experience so is still to early for you. If you find companies who are taking new passes these are companies who experience drivers don't wanna work for as the company is sh*t so they have no choice and they have to take new passes. ( Talking from my experience)

I’ve currently got 2. The Ohrex is a cheaper model but is a really good one that I’ve never had any issue with. The Tomtom is the more expensive one, still be a little cautious still and if unsure just double check the route as even the Tomtom can take you down roads you don’t want to be going down 🙈 I’ve drop a link for them bud so you can have a look. Ohrex Sat nav: amzn.to/3Vssynq TomTom Sat nav: amzn.to/4cuqF0p Hope this helped

Hi Darren, I have a question and if you don't want to answer it, I understand. Doing your type of job, nights out some days as a class 1 hgv and stuff... Roughly how much can you earn monthly? Cheers mate
@Life_of_Darren
@Life_of_Darren 5 ай бұрын
It depends on the areas your based mate, in the northwest the your looking around 2.5 - 3.2k per month, in the south it’s generally around 2.8-3.5k per month after taxes etc. again this can change depending on the hours you work etc
