Guy is a show in and of himself. If only there was one like him in every school band - the kind of guy who can play his part and use facial expressions to interpret the music at the same time.

There always is, and they’re usually a trombonist!!! I sat in front of a pair of them in my high school band. Like this guy, they knew their part and didn’t miss a beat (unless they dropped their trombone or something). They also used to intentionally clear their spit valves at me, trying to get it in me, all 4 years!

This is actually how i act during concerts, i always dance to the music. I remember one time we played the polar Express and i head banging to the beat. One bad part though was im in the very front either right in front of the director or im litteraly 1st chair 😅

He doesn't look like a BORED band kid whose parents made him play an instrument to help him get a better college scholarship (which, to be fair, is also a worthy goal for making a kid play an instrument - but skill demonstrated with sheer joy and clowning around are valuable in themselves).

im so glad im not the only one who grooves in their seat when playing fun/fast music fun fact actually (you probably already know this but ima say it anyways lol): its proven that moving with the music and feeling it as you play it actually helps you play it better, it helps internalize the pulse of the song among other things. its a shame more directors dont allow the players to actually look like theyre having fun

Practice and have fun with it. The best way to have that kind of confidence is to know your part inside and out. He knows precisely how long he can goof before his part comes up. I’m guessing there is a lot of natural talent going in here too.

you act just like me, trombones are built different. i toned my dancing down in my performance bc I was making the video for family that coulden't come. i sometimes forget that some band directors would freak if you got up and started getting into the music like my low brass does. (were a band of 90-110)
@malkaviablaine9563Ай бұрын
i wish my band was as into band as yours (as in other marching band vids), our band in school works weirdly compared to others I've seen, it's an actual class you can take, and some people take it as a way to skip pe or other activities. i think I'm the happiest person to be in my band so I have goofy unfiltered fun.

You need much more challenging music!! You’re probably about to graduate, but if not, check into your local professional bands/symphonies to see if they have a youth program. I played in a youth symphony in high school. It was challenging, but rewarding. You’re certainly capable of going far in entertainment!!
