Dukemon always behaves like a knight, even as antagonist. I suppose the director knows many old fans love Dukemon, so he makes Dukemon defeat all main protagonists, then make a tie with Sleipmon. Well, I believe everyone who has watched Digimon Tamers has a complex feeling about this battle because this feels like the same Dukemon believes a different justice. The same feeling about Omegamon in Digimon X Evolution, Alphamon in Digimon Adventure Tri (I do not believe that is the true Alphamon, especially the setting for Alphamon's responsibility should be stopping King Drasil the World Tree from destroying another world, not allying him on that), and Sleipmon in Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Well, at least most of past protagonists Royal Knights will always ally with protagonists at last, though it is kinda unfair for the knights who have not been protagonist tamers' partner, including Craniamon, LordKnightmon, Examon, Dynasmon, and Duftmon. Well, all Royal Knights are cool and have unique good character, except...... Sorry, I still do not like you, LordKnightmon, too self-centered. Anyway, really hope we may have all Royal Kinghts on the protagonist side one day in some TV show or video game plots, better plus Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

There is not just one group call Royal Knight's through the Digimon Multiverse, just like with exception of 02 and Tri the other series happen on Different universes. Honesty your whole post here regarding this argument is stupid. What there is to praise, it's that even when a Dukemon Royal Knight is portray as the antagonist, he still fights not just for his lord, but to protect lives of something. In this case, he fights for the lives of the individuals on the Digital World, the Digimon's. Because of humans faults, this Dukemon see's more potential on the lives of Digimons, as such, he fights to protect those lives at the cost of the human world lives, lives that he sees with less value to the lives of the Digimon's. Also it's Yggdrasil, as the world tree of Norse mythology.

Well it’s also taking lore from the toys. Dukemon was always a compassionate one compared to the others, likely a result of his virus nature needing him to be balanced. In the x evolution he was the only knight to abandon the cause of his own accord, and got his best friend Omnimon to question himself as well

@Kalu Laitala yeah the digimon franchise favors the dragon a lot. As a bestial lover, I am sometimes mad that the protagonist is not a beast once. Shoutmon, Guilmon, Agumon and Veemon are dragons... Edit: in the royal knights, all the powerful ones are dragon. alphamon, dukemon dynasmon, magnamon and ulforceveedramon are overpowered individuals with over the top feats. Aside from non dragons like Omegamon and Leopardmon which have displayed impressive offensive capabilities. Sleipmon is cool but his strength lies mainly in defense.
