First aid volunteer here - yes, I have done first aid cover for fright nights and yes, the actors do sometimes get injured when people get scared and just lash out at them by reflex. Once had to wash loads of makeup off a guy so we could work out what was makeup blood and what was actual blood. He was in good spirits though. I think they see it as a badge of honour. When you're that good a scarer someone tries to hit you...

As a scare actor at thorpe park, we get assaulted and hit quite a lot, I’ve been punched and thrown down onto tables when I wasn’t even scaring people at the time, I’ve just come back from taking a few days off due to a dislocated jaw from being hit by a guest. Some of my fellow cast members have been headbutted and shoved and even scratched by peoples nails. It’s a tough job but it is lots of fun.

@@weneedaladder8384 we don’t get healthcare, technically we arnt supposed to come out of the maze unless we need first aid. If it’s a purposeful assault then we report and then carry on performing if it’s an accident then we just move on or get first aid if we really need it.

I went to a spook house where guys in black body suits had hidey holes in the wall where they would grab guests. Some big scare happened and I back pedaled hard and felt the back of my head smash into one of the people in the wall's face (hard enough that it hurt me) but by the time I turned around they were gone. I still feel awful about it because there's a good chance they lost a tooth or broke their nose. I have had a hard time enjoying haunted houses ever since.

Any puzzle is hard when you are scared. You don't need to make them extremely difficult because it like you say, it just becomes really frustrating and stops the thing being scary. If you make your main scary thing stop being scary it's not going to be great for the rest of the game

I think it's worth noting that this is actually Andy's third Slender run - there are the early videos, but Mike and Andy also played it in 2017 for a Halloween livestream. Doesn't entirely count, as he was a spectator, but he also sat through Ellen playing it for Hallowstream. Andy has been more than slent over the years.

Slenderman was created by SomethingAwful user Eric Knudsen (under pseudonym Victor Surge) for a Photoshop contest in 2009. It was popularized later the same year by the Marble Hornets video series on KZbin, which treated it as a sort of found-footage horror featuring a mysterious tall, suited figure glimpsed in the distance. It was 14 years this June. This monster is less than half my age. Slenderman is Gen Z.

Watching this on VOD is a great example of how much more horrific KZbin's ad placements are than games like this. I never minded YT ads, I get why they happen, but when they're placed at the point of every effing scary jump point of this video, WORDS need to be had. Really hope they go back to just simple end-of-video or banner placements...Something that doesn't interrupt the effing flow of the video. Anyway, great stream guys, but need to vent frustration for the VoD (Yes, I know about ad-blockers...No, because I shouldn't have to)

How tf is getting slent a reasonable side effect of any medication??? Let alone one treating ANXIETY?! Now, I've never seen a slender being myself, but I do have depression and anxiety, and I feel reasonably confident in my assertion that getting slent would have a greater adverse effect on my mental health than any benefits brought on by the medication. Ah Slender, the true horror character of Hallowstream been a staple of Outside Xbox /Xtra and Halloween since the beginning and in all the years he is no less scarier than he was back then. I'm sure Andy would have great pleasure in telling you that, if anything with the advancement of graphics and stuff, he has only got more scary, powerful and intimidating, the absolute horror of it all.

43:18 As a former scare actor, I can answer Mike’s question! The answer is yes, it’s unfortunately not uncommon for people coming into haunts in bad faith and attempting to physically assault scare actors. Jane was right, it does seem to be a toxic masculinity/revenge thing, though at times it is accidental because someone is scared or drunk and just lash out as a matter of instinct. Those people who do it on accident are easily dealt with, but the bad faith people mean you better hope you’re working at a haunt with good security in order to track the person down. It can be rough, but those who have been doing it for a long time know the risks and generally how to deal with it.
