Possibly a way to make the story move believable? A dead body in the mattress of an already super elaborate story would be so cliche, plus wouldn't there be police and media reporting? It's a fake story, so yeah. Keeps it kinda realistic.

$100k to move 1 pice of furniture? ...sure.... sounds legit🙄🤭😂... first red flag: why didn't he just hire movers?.. they would've been cheaper.. second red flag: he didn't find it weird nobody took the guy up on his offer? ... I would think for a $100k folks would come running.. 3rd red flag: When he met up with him and he saw how he looked, did he look like he had $100k?😂😂😂😂🤭.. from the description, dude didn't sound like he had $10 , never mind $100k
