Until this day, many Italians admire Mussolini for greatly improving the economy of Italy. He also kicked the Mafia out of Italian Life. Mussolini's government also built more Schools and Hospitals than any other Italian leader. Another huge fact is that Mussolini was No anti-Semite. In fact, a large number of German Jews escaped the Nazis by Fleeing to Italy. The Main Jewish Temple in Rome continued services throughout the War. In fact, Mussolini's mistress was a beautiful Italian-Jewish Woman. I am in no way a Fascist, but we must give the Devil his due. Mussolini indeed did accomplish some very good deeds while he reigned for 20 years. Unfortunately, at that time, democracy took a back seat. But, Mussolini did allow thousands of Jews flee the deadly grip of the Nazis. For that reason alone, Mussolini should never be compared to the NAZIS.

@@georgewilkie3580 Mussolini also made one of the worst decisions for his people. He got involved in WW2. How many Italians died due to his stupid decision? His decision to KNOWINGLY send an unprepared military with a lacking arms industry to war? Moreover, if your entire stance is from a nationalist perspective - and not a moral and ethical perspective (which even my former point also proves he messed up from a nationalist perspective) - then sure, he did ok. What about for all of his enemies, though? Such as the Ethiopians. He was an atrocious human being. Anyway, you also seem to lack proper understanding of economics and how his scenario worked in Italy. Mussolini NEEDED to appease the pope to some degree. He lacked absolute power (something Hitler actually had). Mussolini taking in Jews was less because he was a good guy and more to appease the pope. Remember, quite a few Italians were not fascists. They just didn't care to rebuke or fight Mussolini's rise to power. He failed to radicalize the masses. From a logical perspective, Mussolini was a failed Fascist (his definition of it anyway). Hitler achieved what Mussolini envisioned achieving. The ONLY misunderstood part of history is the radical eugenics movement of the Nazis. Many like to pin that as a Fascist thing. It wasn't. Eugenics played a minor role in Fascism. It played a MASSIVE role in Nazism.
