What a great documentary, I was still amazed how clunky and large the 'tags' were. though. I thought they could be made a quarter of that size with todays tech. And two new fish on top of it - fantastic.

as an evolutionary biologist it is painful hearing ppl call the coelacanth a dinosaur fish when coelacanth fossils precede the dinosaurs by about 150 MILLION years

Wow, what does that make it, 200 million years old? And it STILL hasn't "evolved" AT ALL!! You would think it would have at least sprouted some fangs or turned into a flying fish or something by now, since we are told that "evolution is fact". Its a good thing we have educated idiots like you around to explain away these apparent inconsistencies in the deep time Darwinian Cult mantra. 😒

I think the term living fossil is more for the mainstream. It grabs the attention and is easily understood by the masses, even if your suggestion is far more accurate.

@papatrad3458 well, the definition for evolution is just "a change in allel-frequency in a certain population over the course of a certain timeframe" which is very much exactly what adaptation is :)

Every creature is a dinosaur. We've all been here since the beginning. There is NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN.
@colourfulsouls
@colourfulsouls 3 күн бұрын
That’s not true, while yes, many species have been here for millions to hundreds of millions of years, but that doesn’t mean all have been, Many have evolved & branched off, others died out You do see instances of rapid evolution, based on their environments (as well as convergent evolution) So basically if a species has evolved in a good way for them to survive in their environment they can stay the same for millions+ of years, Others change drastically to be separate species entirely When they say ‘living dinosaur’ for example, it’s something that has lived relatively the same since dinosaur eras (where most species died out)

If thise fish have never swam above 130 meters, hiw were they able to survive getting put of the water and start walking and talking? It's a fish, not evolution, otherwise there wouldn't BE any caolacanths left at all, they'd be left behind in that evolution. This "we humans evolved from fish" is the best joke of the decade.
@SteveWangStats
@SteveWangStats 7 күн бұрын
Land animals did not evolve from *modern* coelacanths. Rather, land animals and coelacanths (and lungfish) all share a common ancestor about 400 million years ago. Today, coelacanths live mostly in deep waters, but that was not the case 400 million years ago, when their ancestors lived in a variety of environments. Some of the ancestors that lived in shallower waters (particularly the ancestors of lungfish) evolved to live on land, and others evolved to live in deep waters. Also, the fact that land animals evolved from fish does not mean there shouldn't be any fish left. As an analogy, consider that many Americans evolved from Europeans, but that doesn't mean there are no Europeans left.
