The Wedel Factory in Warsaw's Kamionek district has operated continuously since the 1930s. It's easy to find, because the smell of chocolate fills the entire neighbourhood. On 4 September 2024, a unique, multi-sensory museum opened its doors on the premises of the E.Wedel Chocolate Factory.
A building that used to house silos for storing cocoa beans was rebuilt for the purposes of the museum. Over 8,000 square metres, which includes both the museum and production areas, history has been combined with modernity. In the exhibition halls, guests can discover the secrets of the chocolate-making process - from the selection of cocoa beans, through roasting them, to packaging the finished product - while also learning about the fascinating history of the Wedel family.
Visitors will discover attractions such as a chocolate miniature model of the Kamionek district from the 1920s and 1930s, and a room dedicated to one of Wedel's most famous products - Ptasie Mleczko (chocolate covered marshmallow sweets). From the windows in the passages leading to other floors, visitors can see actual production lines with Wedel factory employees going about their work.
