This is a great video! A couple questions I have though. I am new to Dynamo Studio and I am trying to learn as much as I can. First question i have is: In your video you are using .SAT files is there a way to do the same thing but with .STL files? Or are the file structures too different to make this happen? The second question I have is: I am trying to make planes that follow the geometry of the file I import. Is this possible and do you know of a way what I can do this? My ultimate goal is to create a 5-axis slicing software that will generate a 3D printer tool path in 5 axes. I know this is an ambitious goal but I hope that I can do it, provided I learn enough.

Thanks Michael! I believe STL files are best for 3D printing, not for manipulating geometry since all the curves, points, etc are stripped from the file. If you try to convert STL to SAT, you will only get a faceted/tessellated surface. The way to create planes from a geometry is to generate a dense grid of points and then create planes for every single point. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about create a slicing software to help you more with that!
