What you called jazzy lo-fi hip-hop is pretty much the backbone of east coast hip-hop. Even hardcore acts like Wu and Mobb Deep is rooted in the same style. Coolest thing about this song however, was the fact that Warren G is the producer.

This instrumental is surprisingly underrated for such a popular track. In my opinion one of the best rap instrumentals of all time, a perfect balance between ominous and chill, gives me goosebumps every time.
