Hey Mr. Gallup, You forgot to break out some 5 or 30 minute epoxy and throw it away. Did I just date myself? Another entertaining and informative video. Thank you. No one since Poul Jorgensen and A.K. Best has anyone done more for fly tying than you and Mr. McPhail. Best to you and yours, Paul

Kelly, thanks so much for such a thorough response and briefing, exactly what I needed. The straight forward review on the good and bad of each type is really helpful. I've been using a screwdriver to hammer nails, so this will definitely get me using the right type of cement for the right application. Keep up the great work. These videos are great learning tools!

Great info but HERE is what I would LOVE to see you go into that NOBODY is doing and there is a total vacuum are some patterns using the INCREDIBLE palate of uv resin colors available …the SOLAREZ..the GULFF and LOON colors, NOT just the clear coat..THE COLORS !!!!!! Infected SCUD and infected shrimp etc. I think there is a HUGE need for some of these patterns ! L 👍🎣👍

I use it uv resin but instead of spending extra money for "fly tying if resin" I just have found a craft uv resin from Amazon that is low odor. Works just as well and at a 10th of the cost.

The biggest problem with UV resins is the cancer risk (that includes every brand) I stoped using them immediately once it was made clear they all use Phenol formaldehyde in them which causes cancer/s.

wait what?!? well shit, that gets all over my fingers, and even when cured I can occasionally taste it....I need to look into this...The reason i started using it was because it doesnt melt the hell out of my threads....

I make my own head cement out of Shoe Goo & Tolulene ( or a legal substitute ). It's the same as Flexament and way cheaper !!! And I always glue in ALL materials at the tie-in point for bomb-proofing . . .

Question-- Years ago I was watching a video and the tyer said if you wax the thread before you whip finish the head ,that as you pull the thread to tighten it, the wax will melt due to the friction and you really don't need cement when the heat cools . Ever heard that
@TheSlideinn4 жыл бұрын
Bill, yes I have but even back in the day you would hit it with varnish as it eventually unwrapped but it locks in well for awhile. I kind of lost my way with waxing my thread when the waxed threads showed up, funny cause I had a chunk of it by my vice for forty years. When GSP showed up I didn't put it together that waxing it would stop it from being slippery???? Not sure how I could not have thought of it, luckily one of my old friends told me to try it and the light turned the light back on in my attic. Thanks for watching. kG

Hard as nails is not what it used to be since Coty took over the company. But it is still methylcellulos laquer so you can use thinner in it if need be.. J
