It is nice to see someone emphasise the relaxed, jam feel of playing reso's. I am just starting to mess with the open tunings and G seems to be one of the best. Learn a couple of songs, get a few licks under your belt and let it rip is what I'm after with videos like this. Thanks.

Slide is my new adventure and I'm starting in open G . Great video . There are so many great guitar players it would be almost impossible for me to pick a best . But if I could only listen to one , I think it would be David Gilmore . Well I'm gonna see if you can teach this old dog a new trick , maybe two . You have a blessed one my new friend .

These are great tutorials. I'm just trying to learn a bit of slide having now got very little use or control of my fingers on my left hand (bike crash). I can still fret with my index finger and the middle to a certain extent. Thanks to you I've just about got whisky and ginger and little red rooster down. Just need to keep practicing. Keep 'em coming please.

Hi Chick, I've just started playing slide and I was wondering how high is your action at the 12th fret? Mine is 6mm. Going through your songs now. You have a great sound and really cool licks
@lilchucktheonemanskifflema22143 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I don't set my guitars up specifically for slide as I play a combination of regular style & slide... I think my guy set up my National at about 3mm.

Hi Chuck - just come across you and your music whilst looking for some Open G stuff. You got a new fan! I am just an old guy who started a couple of years ago and via the use of KZbin can pick up a few bits parrot fashion. Just about got Whiskey & Ginger slide riff nailed, but wondered if you could fill in some of the other bits in that piece? Hope so - as I have lots of bits but no full songs (except Albratos by Fleetwood Mac on my other guitar) If you could by the power of technology video some of the rest of that piece so this old guy in the Isle of Man (small island between England and Ireland) can see what you do I would be grateful. i'll link into the mailing list also. Cheers Jeff

Hi Jeff, sorry, I just realised I didn't reply to your comment. How are you getting on wiht W & G? what bits are you having trouble with? I'll see what I can do. I love the IOM, I gigged there number of times in the early 2000's :) more music here....skifflemachine.bandcamp.com

Just found you Li'l Chuck, good vibe and real friendly delivery - I'm at the beginning of my 'slide' effort left-handed, like your songs & would hope eventually to try playing 'em. I've started with the slide on my 3rd finger, would that be a problem attempting your tunes? Subbed, every success bro, best wishes from Blighty :)
@lilchucktheonemanskifflema22145 жыл бұрын
good luck with your journey. my rule is that there are no rules when it comes to music. Play from the heart and you'll make it sing what ever finger you use... look at the difference between say Bonnie Raitt and Dave Hole technique..... ps I am left handed, I play right-handed guitar and left handed drums simultaneously.... no rules - have a loot at some of my one man band videos and you'll see.. :)... ps I have just released a series of hand made slides and a tutorials here... all the best from NZ :) www.backyardmusic.co.nz/bottlenecks

Nice , but no not claw hammer. It's called simple 3 finger picking (Scruggs style). Your strum is a claw hammer but not the finger picking.

@@lilchucktheonemanskifflema2214 the great banjo player Roscoe Holcombe would sometimes string his guitar differently and play it clawhammer. Great channel thanks for posting.
