Sliding 808 Portamento Glides in Reaper with the Free VST TX16Wx

Very useful guide! I was getting a high beep and a mid range pop when I released the key. I eliminated this by Low passing until the pop was inaudible. Maybe this will help someone else who is experiencing the same issue.

I see others below have brought you up to speed on Reaper's built in portamento feature:)) You should have seen the look on my face when Kenny Gioia showed me the built in ring modulator and how I could attach it to envelope points in an EQ:)) I had been using a different product to do that not knowing that once again, it seems Reaper can do anything...except cost a lot of money:)) I've only been using the product almost everyday for the last 7 years and still trying to keep up.

It seems like whenever I blink Reaper has three new features 😉 I always appreciate comments on my videos, never know what I’ll learn!, I’ll have to look up that ring modulator trick, that sounds wild! And I’ve had to renew my license once over maybe 9 years of being a user, unbelievable 😎

I've only used TX16Wx to play sound fonts. In version 3 it was just a list of buttons and I didn't know what to do. Thank you :)

Thanks for the helpful tips in the sounds page. PW is pulse width 8:10... By any chance, do you know of a way to have Reaper projects load TX16Wx banks/performances TX16Wx on launch? I have to manually reselect each time I open the app atm.

Sure thing! If I’m getting what you mean, you can do this already with this setup. The midi notes you overlap will slide, while the non-overlapping notes play without sliding.

Gesreg I had a look at the manual for this - it says the time stretching functionality is available in the paid version, unfortunately 🙁

Gesreg are you using the looping technique used in the video? You should be able to play any midi note for any amount of time. It shouldn’t be stopping until after you release the midi note

Gesreg I don’t know, sorry! Except that I’m sure you could load TX16Wx into Cubase as a VST and the same steps would get you most of the way there. In terms of Cubase stock plugins, I’ve never used Cubase so I’m not sure.

Just throw an 808 into RS5k and automate the pitch, open an automation lane and draw in the pitch glide

@@christophermarloweproducti4670 Well, it is easy to miss what is new... for instance, in 6.14 you can now have fx shown in the TCP... a feature we were waiting for... years! I am subscribed to The Reaper Blog yt channel.... and I watch the "what's new in Reaper v6.xx" videos, I always learn something new :)

It’s not ideal, agreed 😅 but if you’re a Reaper user, you can glide with ReaSamplomatic5000 now, which is a bit less hassle
